Location: big island | was experimenting this morning with a digitech vocalist live2 harmonizer. my entire family is down with severe colds and respiratory distress from the volcanic fog going on currently, but i braved through this anyway, just for "fun":

Location: big island | thanks, brad. i am still struggling vocally and some of the playback was as painful listening to as it was to sing but the VL2 is a nice, economical unit, nevertheless.

Location: Copenhagen Denmark | Nice song , Mr.Lanaki Sir , you have a strong "playful" voice ,but does that vocalist increase sibilance..?..or was it the mic. ( sm 58 ? ) which could cause that too..

Location: big island | i'll have to look up "sibilance", vic and get back with you on that. (the mic is a shure beta 58A) i don't have a PA system here so the guitar and vocals were going thru my marshall amp. |

I kinda' detected more of a "doubling" than harmony . . . was it set for just a single harmony??
When y'get a chance, try punching the "harmony" in/out on the choruses t'give a bit of a comparison . . .

Location: big island | "sibilance" can be handled by tweaking the controls a bit more. like i said, it was entirely experimental. the sound was being picked up by a compact video cam. no "ideal" sonic reproduction going on here. |

NiceTune. cliff, my head is so full of shhhnot i ain't hearing so well. and you are correct, i had it set on a single high harmony and a unison.
i just got the thing and have to find time to play with it some more. after i made the video clip, i went back and cut the harmony on the first half of the lead verses. it's a nicer effect. after i tweak this thing and get my head cleared a bit, i'll tape the new and hopefully improved version.

Location: big island | vic, i think what was going on is that i had the reverb up past mid on my amp and also on the VL2. i was getting overkill and shoulda turned down the amp's reverb. |

Location: Lake Hiawatha, New Jersey | Nice job on the song. The controls do take a little bit of tweaking to get the sound right. One thing that I noticed is that you need to pay attention to the "mic gain" control. If that is too high, it produces a slightly distorted sound. Almost as if your signal was clipping. Once I got that sorted out, my problems were solved.
I took it out on a gig on Friday and got some very positive feedback from the staff at the venue. The bartender, who is a very nice kid, was very into it. I was messing around with it at home and got a very nice CSN sound by setting the harmony a third and a fifth above my voice. It would be a "bit much" for a gig, but it sure is a lot of fun.
Another added benefit (for me) is that it's forcing me to be more disciplined with my vocals as the unit will duplicate and highlight mistakes. You also need to be sure that your guitar is in tune because the unit "listens" to the chords that you're playing in order to determine the proper key. All in all, I'm very happy with it so far. |

Location: big island | thanks john. i had left the mic gain control on the back of the unit set as it was outta the box, at about midway. didn't even think about tweaking it any. the unit does accentuate the flat and sharp sung notes and i have been getting plenty of those lately. it is a fun unit and much better than the first digitech vocalist workstation i owned a couple years ago. at least the harmonies sound human on this one. the unit does have a built-in tuner which is in sync with the harmony processor. it seems accurately calibrated to 440. |

Location: Delaware | Randy, glad to hear you decided on a harmony processer and picked one up. Once I got my tc helicon voicelive tweaked right, it almost seemed to boost my vocal confidence in myself, and made singing a bit more fun ( not nessecarily for the people having to hear it though !! ). Try different settings, experiment with it, have fun, post more songs. See Ya !! |

Location: big island | well, it's a bit later in the day and the snot levels have subsided somewhat. now that i can hear better, i'm thinkin', "what was i thinkin'?" posting this rather embarassing clip. it hurts to listen to it and i didn't do any justice to a great song. i need to pull the clip and save myself further tomatoes. |

i'm not usually a thumb strummer but there's something about the T that i like better with the thumb. at the beginning of the song you can also hear some brush strums. |
