So I was really just looking for an iDea Module... But the guitar came with it!
It was cheaper to get the whole thing than to just buy the module.
And the sticker on the box sez...

And the wood inside does sorta run North/South...

Besides all that scrap lumber that they put under the bridge.
(I had to open the back to get a Huge silica pak outta there)

I got the gray [platinum] on cuz shiny black shows-off any imperfections so well...

Also it was cheaper! :p

I just got it, but I can say that it has a V neck that is okay, but different from what I am used to.
It also sounds nice, but different. Plus it has new EXP's on there.
Maybe after an hour of playing it will sound more normal.
Once I figure the whole thing out I will write a review.
More pics here if you are interested...

And if you don't like the guitar, just swap out the preamp with something else and sell it.

Back to the Subject Title...
Do any of you people-smarter-than-me believe that this has a Solid Top?

Also, I have had two iDea Modules before...
I believe that the letters on this tuna are smaller than on my other ones.

Does this "D" look smaller to some of you other iDea owners?
(all the other letters are equally small)

If the box says solid top, it has to be solid top. Doesn't necessarily mean it's a GOOD top.

On startup, mine says "rev.1.1", perhaps you have a different version of the firmware?

Mine is "Rev. 1.2"

So what happened to ovationidea.com?

And I cannot get there from iDEA for Dummies either.

/geek on

With enough technical know-how you could probably revert the firmware on yours back to 1.1, a quick google search didn't return any results on people having done this though. If I had an older and newer one to play with could probably figure it out, but I guess it also depends on how well locked down the ROM chip is on those.

/geek off

Maybe the guys at the factory have some insight they could share?

I don't see it as a problem...
The letters just looked smaller than I remembered.

But still... What happened to OvationiDea.com?

My next question is, "How long should I own this guitar before I remove all them stickers?"

Well, that is NOT GOOD.
They are still selling Brand New iDea guitars that tell you in the manual to go to www.ovationidea.com for lessons and backing tracks. Mine is Brand New, plus they are pushing the CC24Si and the CC44Si.
Many customers will be disappointed.
(Maybe the company folks will read this)

I did find http://www.guitarbackingtrack.com/
And I am sure that there are other sites.
Then I would have to figure-out how to load the tracks. I am kinda computer illiterate.

I really just want a 3/4 and a 4/4 drum-pedal metronome-type thingie.

OMA, it uses a USB interface to your computer. I haven't played with ours for a while so I forget exactly how to do it.

For drum backing tracks you could use drum loops to assemble your own. If you have something particular in mind let me know and I'd be happy to put together some MP3 drum tracks for you. I've got a good program that I use for recording at home. A simple 4/4 or 3/4 would be cake to put together. If you wanted something with a break or verse/chorus, etc, that is super simple too. Just let me know tempo, style, and # of measures.

Thank You for the kind offer...

I figured-out how to load Cinnamon Girl from http://www.guitarbackingtrack.com/ into my Media Player, and from there into the iDea module.
And the I actually used it!
(and I can actually use that one out on the street I believe)

Y'see, that was why I sold the first two modules... I never used them
I used "12-Bar Blues in Am" and played "Wish You Were Here" into it.
Other than that, they sat on the shelf until I needed some money more than I need an iDea! :p
Whereas this one is IN a Guitar. So it is not like I have to switch it around.
Plus it is sitting next to me at the computer so I might get inspired to actually load some music into it.
I still have to figure-out how to manage all these files.
Since the Ovation iDea site is gone, I gotta be careful that I don't erase the original stuff...
I cannot go back and get it like I could.
We are supposed to get an inch of rain today, so I might mess with it. I won't be going out.

But I would like to find a simple beat... Something I can use on many songs.
I have a G-DEC (that I rarely use)... The backing track that I use most often with that is a straight Metronome with an Acoustic style amp simulator.

OMA, if you are looking for the Idea site content, I downloaded it all while it was there.

Just let me know and I can send you a download link....

Quite a few of the links were done improperly (linked to themselves, as previously mentioned...), but there was a lot of good material as well (475mb).

Could a mod please confirm that posting links is OK. Although, the material is copywritten, as they are not hosting it themselves anymore I don't think it should be a problem?

If it is deemed to be OK, I will add the links here and anybody else that wants the iDea site content can grab it as well...

OMA, here are some sample MP3s you can download. Let me know if you want me to modify any of them. Right now they are all 16 meaasures long and you can loop them, or if you'd prefer I can stretch them out to any length you'd like, though it will use more memory to store longer files on your iDea.

If you want compression or reverb it is simple enough to do that, too.

Thank You FlySig and Avatar John.

Now I have all kinds of stuff to use.

Now all I gotta do is learn how to play along with a rhythm track. :D

[No, Really... I am used to just playing by myself. Not playing with music or others]
