Great news (I hope!)

We will proudly reopen her doors December 1st, 2010.

web page

I stopped by there in September not knowing that they had closed back in January 2010.

My wife and I were in Amelia in September also. It looked like they were doing a complete renovation of the Florida House. It should be nice.

Don't see any mention of the Mermaid/lounge/bar etc. Activities seem to include much to do in the area...glad to see it open again...

"an English style pub"... does that mean warm pints of ale?

No word on if he's going to have music. Don't even know who the new owners are. Stuck up north with white spoo on the ground....

Yeah, but it'll be 80 again by Saturday...

Maybe I'll take a ride over and check it out. And spend some time enjoying the other white spoo (beach sand).

No offense guys but I am not that found of the florida house.
I stayed there several times.
the beds uncomfortable, the tv did not work or worked poorly, the blankets were worse then ones I donated to good will the heat did not work when it went down to 40 degrees and the food was lousy.

I hope whoever got the place puts a coat of paint on the place and goes over the rooms and restores it to the glory it could have.

the chain down the street was cheaper and had all the modern conveniences and they did not screw up breakfast.

but I do enjoy going down there and doing the hang with everyone

Al, you forgot to mention that the prices for what you got were also overpriced.

I stayed there the first couple years cause of the convenience but old ownership continually promised upgrades that never occurred.

I also hope new ownership makes it what it could/should be.

If they don't they won't last long.

We put up with if cause Joe was a good guy and loved music and Diane was nice to look at and the location was great. Everything else was substandard. How's that for being polite? Indigo on the other hand was great for the Clinic this year!
That was one of the two good things that happened this year......the 1939D-28 was the other, and of course, BobboFest.

They had to put you in the "Bin Laden Suite", 'cos you looked like a potential damage claim.

Wow. I haven't heard a panning like that since talking to Schroeder's mother in law after her last visit.

I actually liked the Florida House, even staying in the attic with 4 or was it 5 other folks. Maybe it's just that I have low standards after living in military quarters for so many years.

Of course, the company made it all worthwhile and I would do it again tomorrow!

I sure did't need a TV and after Temps scotch at 3am waffles at 4am I could have slept on a pointy rock.
