1957 Gibson ES-125T bought new by my truck-driving neighbor, then loaned to me for the next 10 years while I was growing up and learning to play. I gave it back to him in 1969 after passing up the opportunity to buy it and the Gibson amp that went with it for $150. I never really owned it as a matter of fact, but I did retain possession for ten years.

Countless others... but those, (mostly for sentimental reasons) are the ones that hurt the most.

There was this Swedish girl who I always wanted to date, but we were never single at the same time. She looked like a young Darryl Hannah but hotter, much hotter. She was the inspiration for the Swedish Bikini Team. We were friends for years until life took us to different corners of the country.

I guess she just wasn't "the one".

It's like that with the few guitars I've sold. All were fine, but somehow not "the one". No regrets with the guitars I've sold.

As for the Swedish girl, just call me STUPID...

I regret having traded or sold every guitar I've ever traded or sold.

Every one, at least for awhile. I was going to say I missed the Patriot that I sold to Michelle the most. It was the nicest sounding and playing Ovation that I had.
Then Dave went and reminded me of the John Legend Ltd. Of all the guitars of his guitars that I played, I liked that one the most, but passed on it when he offered it for sale. I appreciated my stupidity even more when I got the Patriot. I wasn't a big fan of the fife and drum decal, but if I don't get a JL someday, I may have to get another Patriot. Two of Ovations' best that I like more than the 87 Collectors or 1537.

Most of the Ovations that I've sold I haven't felt real bad about. The one that I feel horrible about was a blonde Thunderhead that I bought from Miles. In really really good condition. I don't really play electric and would only pick it up occasionally, but loved having it. One time when work was slow I decided that I really needed the money and sold it to a friend in Texas. Instantly regretted it.

But for a happy ending, the friend doesn't play it and will sell it back to me when I've got the money to buy it for what I sold it. One day, probably this coming year, that guitar is coming home.....

My Guild--beautiful old dread from '85; but, she tore up all the stuff that bothers me, so I gave her away to someone who deserved a great guitar. It's been a couple years, now, but sometimes I still miss the mellow resonance of her tone....

1987 Guild F45-CE. Flame Maple. Beautiful looking and sounding guitar. I sold it in the late 90s. I have never seen another one like it, and I've looked - often.

No... I'm ok with that one. I have a pretty little Tornado that I like to play. The next one might hurt a little though. Stay tuned.
