7 and 1/2 O's
(Gertrude, Jewel, Jazzey, Rosita, Princess, Gloria and Diva--and 1/2 of an iDea guitar, which I share with a friend)
1 5-sting bass (Sugar)
2 mandos (Plink and Angel)
1 banjo (Twang, a legacy from the blue-eyed carpenter)
1 fiddle (Shriek, also his)

and...

1 clarinet (which forlornly resides under the bed, untouched)

A better question is "What do you really play?" Changes overtime, but lately I seem to be gravitating towards the following

- Guild GSR F30R OM sized
- Takamine 740FS 12 fretter
- Collings Koa Ukulele

Pretty evenly between the GP-1, GS-III & Tornado...not too much acoustic stuff over the last year.

The 1113 gets a lot of "playing around" playtime as it's in the basement next to my pc.
When I play concentrated for a longer time it always ends up with the UTE or the FD14. In the past weeks almost only the FUD. Amazing little baby.

Too many, but I want more.

6 electrics
8 acoustics
1 resonator
1 lapsteel
1 bass
2 mandos - neither in good working condition
1 viola
2 violins
1 chello
2 ukes

Many years ago I had a banjo. My IQ went up 6 points when I got rid of it.

As for which I play? I have played every one of the guitars in the past month, but I have played my 2 Adamas and the Carvin H2 the most.

Sorry to hijack the thread, I just thought how MANY due you actually PLAY was more meaningful. Anybody with a credit card can buy a lot of guitars. My father was a stamp collector, had about 800 stamps. Yet every month it one took ONE to mail the rent money,

My acoustics get rotated quite evenly.
In comparison, the electrics are rather neglected.

How many guitars? For right now, enough. In the future, who knows?

How many do I play? Actually, almost all get rotated thru....

Roughly 20 (give or take a couple)

The flowers of the collection:
• Adamas 2080 x 2
• OFC II (S/N: 2)
• FD-14
• Adamas MERB
• Adamas 1681-5
• '07C x 2
• Gretsch 6117
• Gitane "D-500"
• '01C

Also:
• Several lower-end Ovations and others, including one Matrix beater/wall-hanger.
• One Agile AS-2000 Les Paul knock-off that I bought for a song, both because it WAS so inexpensive ($199) and because it has a wideneck.
• An Academy wideneck that sounds much better than it should, and is very playable.
• A certified, genuine MWoody with a nice wideneck tuned to Open G.
• Several lower-end electrics for my kids and me to mess around with.
• An Ibanez electric bass
• An Agile AS3000 fretless electric guitar.
• A super-inexpensive left-handed (I'm right-handed -- this is for certain, shall we say, "experiments") Epiphone Les Paul knock-off.
• Two Guitar Hero controllers (do those count?)
• One old Takamine acoustic, of unknown provenance, that got all this started

All either serve or have served an important purpose. They all helped me to figure out what is "the perfect guitar" for me (at least for now).

Playing-wise:
• I gravitate frequently to the OFC II because I think it's written into the state of Connecticut laws that one must play such a fine guitar if one owns one. Or maybe it's an existential-level responsibility. I forget which.
• Then, I play the FD-14 a lot, 'cause it's just bloomin' gorgeous, HUGELY playable, has a spectacular wideneck and sounds like a dream.
• The Gitane for the gypsy jazz sound.
• The '01C, because it's tuned to Open D, and I want to learn what to do with that.
• The MWoody, 'cause it's tuned to Open G, and I want to learn what to do with that.

But, I go through phases, so they all cycle through fairly regularly in any given year.

I like Dave's question of "how many do you really play?"

A while back, when I actually counted my guitars, I decided I just had to many guitars! So I started playing each one to remember why I had each one. I couldn't find one I wanted to get rid of.

There are 2 that I will keep for sentimental reasons and won't play much. But now I really enjoy playing all of my guitars.

This may sound weird but a lot of times I will play something on one guitar, then stop and start playing the same thing on 5 or 6 other guitars. I tend to play things differently on different guitars. When I play the same song on my Adamas, my Country Artist and my Archtop, for example, they have such different sounds and personalities, I usually approach the same song differently.

So I have too many guitars, but at least I'm playing them now!
