Did anyone get anything nice from Santa this year?
Ovation or other?
I bought myself a couple nice Gretsch guitars that I had on layaway for about 2 years...
Nothing other than that though!

I'm very pleased with the Zoom Q3HD.
Up to 1080p video with the zoom quality sound recorder.
But most of all, it's easy it use. I've bought and then sold a couple units because the operating menues were fragmented, overly complicated, and difficult to navigate.
This will be a good learning tool for recording practice sessions and gigs and will also work well for vacations and family use. |

Of course, the Thang's bolts don't match up to a 1980 circa Japanese combo, so I had to pull the cover off, remove the bolts, redrill and reinstall the bolts, recover the speaker cloth.
Tonight I hope to bolt the baffle back on, and hook up the speaker. I'll let you know how it goes. |

The best gift is the news that my son and daughter-in-law are moving back from PA, so they will only be about 40 minutes away, as opposed to 2 hours...

MJK I loved the "nothing other than the two Gretsch guitars..." thing. Wasn't that enough?!?!?
I LOVE my Gretsch 6117, but to have TWO MORE similar guitars would make it a REALLY GREAT CHRISTMAS!

Since I typically do the "this will count for the next(blank)presents, I suspect I'm still working off the last several guitars, the latest of which was the 2010 Collector, which probably counts for Anniversary and Christmas.
I did get a book on Eva Cassidy from my daughter and spent a nice rainy day in Portland reading it. That's the first time in years that I've spent any time reading a book, so that was nice. Our baby leaves for Haiti tonight, so coming back safely is all we want. |

My adult kids are all broke, so, like it has been for the past five years, Christmas was pretty much all one way out, with the grand children appearing to be the big winners, which is pretty much how we believe it ought to be. |
