Hello everybody!
Happiest of holidays!
It's been too long since I've posted here!
I hope all is well with everybody!

So...

Did anyone get anything nice from Santa this year?
Ovation or other?

I bought myself a couple nice Gretsch guitars that I had on layaway for about 2 years...

Nothing other than that though!

How about all ya'll?

All the best in 2o11 my friends!

MJK

Yeah..
I'm very pleased with the Zoom Q3HD.
Up to 1080p video with the zoom quality sound recorder.
But most of all, it's easy it use. I've bought and then sold a couple units because the operating menues were fragmented, overly complicated, and difficult to navigate.
This will be a good learning tool for recording practice sessions and gigs and will also work well for vacations and family use.

Not one, but TWO, Feedback Busters. Y'know, those rubber gizmoes you put in the soundhole? (SWMBO had a suggestion for a different insertion)
Beats a lump of coal, anyway.
Note to self: Get off Santa's "dookey list"!
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

No presents this year since the kids are gone.

We gave to a couple of worthwhile charities instead.

I do plan to get one of those Zoom Q3HD recorders later in 2011.

Wow! Was THAT ever fraught with innuendo!

Oh, yes...a ukelele for me, and a Wii for Alex, and clothing and posters for Diana. Santa made us all happy.

If we are talking about me ... Eminence Swamp Thang!
Of course, the Thang's bolts don't match up to a 1980 circa Japanese combo, so I had to pull the cover off, remove the bolts, redrill and reinstall the bolts, recover the speaker cloth.
Tonight I hope to bolt the baffle back on, and hook up the speaker. I'll let you know how it goes.

1. An Ovation soft case for Jewel and Princess to share
2. A Dunlop capo
3. The cake plate that matches my antique English tea set (this one made me get all teary)
4. A gift certificate to Lowe's to buy paint for both bedrooms, which desperately need redoing.
The best gift is the news that my son and daughter-in-law are moving back from PA, so they will only be about 40 minutes away, as opposed to 2 hours...
A very good Christmas, indeed.

I loved the "nothing other than the two Gretsch guitars..." thing. Wasn't that enough?!?!?

I LOVE my Gretsch 6117, but to have TWO MORE similar guitars would make it a REALLY GREAT CHRISTMAS!

Congrats, MJK!

….hmmm, it would seem that I went down another path: I bought a three volume history of the Civil War by Shelby Foote….. Difficult to tune. Hard to play. Great read.

2 guitars----magnets
2 Boxsters---models
Since I typically do the "this will count for the next(blank)presents, I suspect I'm still working off the last several guitars, the latest of which was the 2010 Collector, which probably counts for Anniversary and Christmas.
I did get a book on Eva Cassidy from my daughter and spent a nice rainy day in Portland reading it. That's the first time in years that I've spent any time reading a book, so that was nice. Our baby leaves for Haiti tonight, so coming back safely is all we want.

I have that set. Excellent reference material. He was one of the world's leading experts on the subject before he passed away.

My adult kids are all broke, so, like it has been for the past five years, Christmas was pretty much all one way out, with the grand children appearing to be the big winners, which is pretty much how we believe it ought to be.

You say, "Difficult to tune..." but did you ever REALLY take the time to TRY to tune it? Hmmmmm? Well? Didja?

A deluxe reissue album of Damn The Torpedos on red 180gr vinyl re-pressed from the original analog masters. Plus a bonus album of some unreleased songs from the same recording sessions and a few live songs from the era. AND it includes a 96K24bit digital download of all of it, too.

A pair of New Wayfarers in tortoise to replace the iconic nine-year-old pair I recently lost.

A new espresso machine that makes it mo betta mo fasta.

No guitars. I'm hoping for one in the near future.

A R0de instrument mic. Get to see it in action in a few minutes when Sara and Katie play a show!!

Some picks, a new saddle for the Patriot, and a shirt rounds out the gifts received. Having all the kids home together was the best gift.
