Ok. I'm confused. Didn't you already win a custom Ovation?

The question still stands. And isn't the idea to vote for the music you like the best, not the musician who actively solicits the most votes?

I believe that you may be thinking of Jukebox Joe? Different OFC member, different contest.

You are completely free to vote for Pez, or for someone else, or not vote at all. I really don't see anything wrong with one of our active members notifying us that they are participating in such a contest, particularly when it is an Ovation-sponsored contest that promotes Ovation guitars.

You are right that I had it wrong about who won the last contest my apology toPEZ.

Having said that I didn't like it when JJ went trolling for votes either.

Just trying to be consistant with my beliefs. May the best video win.....

It's either a straight up vote or it's not. If you have to tip the balance by trawling for support, rather than relying on your talent and abilty, then I would consider a win something of a hollow victory. While it may just be a social-networking marketing excersise, if it's just down to how many of your friends you can coerce it's pretty meaningless. I mean, there might be someone out there, who is less savvy at networking, who could really represent the brand to a cool, hip audience.

Well, if we are going to turn this into a discussion, respectfully of course, then, I personally believe, Home Town Hero is the wrong title for this contest.
Maybe, a fire fighter who plays guitar being recognized for saving a life.
A soldier sitting in the sand box aka (Iraq) playing a guitar to entertain his fellow soldiers.
yeah, Home Town Hero is in my opinion the wrong title for this contest.

Basically vote goes on facebook or twitter. The biggest mailing list will win. Its not a talent contest in way shape or form.

IMO:

Pez is a long-standing member here, he asked for your vote, just do it or don't, it's up to you, it's that simple.

Implying that it is cheating or unfair to solicit votes here or anywhere else is disingenuous. You all know darn well how the world really works. The OFC is a social network, what's wrong with soliciting support within your social circle?

I agree that the name of the contest is a poor choice and inappropriate, but that's not remotely Pez's fault. With all due respect to our real hometown heros; if you feel strongly about the name of the contest, start a new thread, or, better yet, tell Ovation how you feel instead of hijacking his thread…

Good Luck Pez…

I never implied anything. I said outright that I don't like trolling for votes. Wasn't I clear?

Awww... During the Ovation Instructional Video contest I voted for JJ, DB, and others everyday.

And I believe that JJ and others voted for me everyday.

I wish I still had the YouTube video of me doing Needle and the Damage Done at Apple Music...

DVD filmed it with his phone and put it up on YT, apparently he took it down or closed his YT account.
Plus, YT closed-down one of my accounts... I had two and they closed one. :( So I lost some of my other videos...

I lost me doing Stairway for Dummies with the Flame T.
I also lost me doing Hallelujah on the Uber-Deacon.

Anyway... That Roadshow video had the Ovation Banners and such in it.
I can always make another one... Use my Adamas or Flame T or Sweet T...
Or the Woody Uber-Deacon! Something special.

Maybe a cool, special guitar will garner some votes, even if my playing is not-so-special ;)

I admire anyone who can play on "stage", cause I never have had the courage or the chops, so good on all the Roundback heroes. OM Arthur, I saw yours on the Flame ...love finger-pickers!! PEZ, good strong show. Anyhow, the Roundback Road Show is coming to my quiet village of Ottawa tonight and I'll swing by and see the festivities of course...so far there's only one guy signed up for the Heroe contest. But I was raised on the hard-scrabble east-end of Toronto and have friends in low places, so I can go "Pete Seeger on Dylan" to see that that this heroe never reaches the stage if it'll help the community.
