Location: SoCal | .... that if you had to sell the others, would be the one to keep?
For me, it keeps coming back to my 1537. I've replaced the tuners (old ones were corroded), the strap buttons (newer and larger), and the electronics (put in the redesigned 2 knobber preamp from the reissues). But I've never adjusted the neck or the action in the 18 years I've had it.
I often play the 87C and the OFC I slothead, and the rebuilt Legend, and the FD14, but the 1537 was the first good (really good) Ovation I ever owned and it still may be the best. Love the organic look of it and love the sound.
What's the "keeper" for you? |

Location: The Great Pacific Northwest | This time 'round the question I think may be slightly different. Rather than the usual "you could only keep one" this is "if you had to sell the others." For me there's a difference.
If I "had to sell" all others, then the keeper would be my trusty Ovation Medallion. It's served me well for 35 years.
If I could only "keep" one.. then it would be the OFC-II.
My logic in this is that "if I had" to sell all others... I would include the most expensive ones in that sale and keep something that may be worth little in value but high in sentiment. |

Location: Boise, Idaho | If I interpret the question the same way Miles' did, I'd keep the Matrix because it's not worth selling and it was a wedding present. If I had to sell my guitars because SWMBO took me to the cleaners in the divorce, it would probably be the first one I'd sell.
I also agree with Moody, since my 1537 was my first really good Ovation.
And I agree with Stephen, sort of. The #47 RI he sold me is my best sounding and playing guitar.
So there's 3 different answers to 3 different spins on the question.
If I was thinking that I could keep only one that I probably could never replace, it'd be the OFC 1.

My Adamas is officially my favorite of the 10 guitars I am lucky enough to own but nothing could replace my Dad's guitar. |

But this year (and for the rest of my years) it will be the custom Adamas 1881WT.
