Location: Michigan | o.k. when i think of the early c.s&n , i think of acoustic only.then i saw this you tube and was suprised to see stills playing a gibson s.g. and everyone was playing electric back then. there is even a unknown electric keyboard player but not singing on this song .
i think that they might of wanted to get into some heavy electric rock & roll back then but their acoustical style ended up selling the best for them.
what a great group one of my favorites for sure.GWB

Location: cincinnati, ohio | They always did two sets in those days - an all-acoustic set and an all electric set. The acoustics were miked way back in the beginning, and they sounded fine. The electric set was augmented by 20+ minute jams on songs like "Southern Man" and "Carry On," since they didn't have a lot of material in the beginning. Listen to "4 Way Street," a live 1970 recording. There's an acoustic set and an electric set. The acoustic disc is, in my opinion, much more fully resalized. CSNY could rock, but their acoustic stuff was - and is - exquisite... |

Location: Michigan | thanks 4 the u-tube save arthur. i thought it was interesting that neil at the time seemed like a back up player then and not a big part of the group . does anyone know when he actually emerged as a part of the c.s.n. band? he definitly had the most success of all of them. Location: cincinnati, ohio | Even though CSN recorded the first album as a trio, they immediately recruited Neil to get more muscle for their live shows, so CSNY was born soon after CSN came into being. In fact, Neil was at Woodstock, but - quirky as always - he refused to be filmed. Stills and Young were both friendly rivals from their Buffalo Springfield days. Both of them were accomplished lead guitarists with healthy egos. They butted heads a lot; sometimes it made for great music, and sometimes it was just crap... |

I wasn't a CSN fan at the time and had every intention of returning it, but being lazy I failed to send it back in time and was forced to buy it. Best mistake I ever made. I ended up buying 2 or 3 copies before it was over. |

Crosby's girlfriend Christine Hinton (who inspired Guinevere) had just been killed in a car wreck, and Crosby was a basket case. Jones sang his parts. I believe Crosby was there, but was essentially a zombie.

At some point he became a volunteer, instead of a victim. I think his time in TDC brought that to his attention. His life seems a little less chaotic now.
Wonder if he still carries a 45 with him where ever he goes? |

Location: cincinnati, ohio | No - he only did that for a short time when he was uber paranoid (when they asked him why he carried it, he said, "Two words: John Lennon."). These days he seems to be pretty much on an even keel. Saw Crosby and Nash this past February, and they still sounded great. |
