A couple might become "A" songs.. a few might become fillers, some might not even get past the first run through. Dream / Everly Bros. - On the suggestion of a good friend with impeccable credentials. . To Make You Feel My Love / B. Joel & others - Because Lady Slipkid really, really likes it. . Mr. Bojangles & Country Roads - Yes, they've been done to death and we might never play them out, but we like them. . Freedom / McCartney - Tho it was given a chance it will never see the light of day. It's all hook and no substance. I'm sure Temp would agree. . Bargain / The Who - Looks like it will be something less that an "A" song but more than a filler. It's something you never hear others cover and again, we like to play it. . I Saw Her Standing There / Beatles - A good harmony song and damn fun to play. A real vocal stretcher. . That Thing You Do / The Wonders - A 60's vibe that is right in our wheelhouse. Tho it's more complicated and busy than you might think. . So... What's in your wallet? You might try one of the above yourself and I might want to take a run at something you're doing.

Something like, "Just cause it's over doesn't mean it's the end" or something like that. We did "Jalapinos" by the Bellamys, but it needs some more work

There are HUNDREDS of songs you guys can knock out of the park that are better than those two. Think Peter & Gordon, The Hollies, Dave Clark 5, Stones.........

We're going to play Country Roads and BoJangles at the next open mic we do and they're stayin' on the list. Fear not tho... chances are you'll never have to suffer through them. Same reason you'll never hear Wild Horses or Hallelujah. They're not the type to play at a TUS gathering. . We play Bus Stop and Look Through Any Window once in a while in practice. We've just never polished them up enough to play out. . We took a run at Carrie-Ann a long time ago. The hook is fun enough but the lyrics are kinda clunky.

He was asked to write a tune that had that 60's vibe and period lyrics for the movie and, for a guy who wasn't even born back then, he absolutely nailed it.

I'm currently working on the lead for As the Raven Flies, by Dan Fogelberg. Joe Walsh did the lead and fits the Am Pentatonic stuff I'm trying to learn.

A couple weeks ago, I woke up around 3, which is typical, with the Raven stuck in my head, complete with the lead part. I don't know that I had listened to the song in months or years. I had been working on blues licks in Am for weeks and this one just fit. My brain went from that lead part to the lead in Sultans of Swing and then Hotel California, but those aren't in Am.

Next/current is Tequila Kiss, basically it's the backstory of how the tattoo got there in Margarittaville. (Nothin' is sure but this brand new tattoo... ..how it got here I haven't a clue" )

Speaking of which, if anyone has tab for the acoustic intro bit to Joe Bonamassa's version of "As the Crow Flies" please send it along. Sounds easy, but I can't for the life of me get it down.I've found lots of "tabs" of the chords, but never found one for the lead part.

I will never ever play "Stay Here and Drink" by Merle Haggard again. I was in a band for 10 years and everytime we played, which was every weekend or so, we opened with that song. Love Merle. Hate that song now.
