I wonder if Fender/Ovation will let them get away with that. Changing the headstock might not be enough since the body is so distinctive.

I wonder if people like me writing them letters asking if they'd make one had any influence? I'm starting to save my pennies. I'll let you know how it is.
Thanks for the update.

Probably not, and probably not as good, only playing one will tell, but at least it'll cause some excitement. I agree, the bean counters and marketing pukes dropped the ball, and the trains leaving the station.

I checked the eastwood website and didn't see anything. How did you find out?

I think they made a decent effort at copying the Ultra GP. Maybe it worked out well for them. I don't know of any shredder/punker or whatever currently using a Breadwinner, though.

Hey, you can buy phony Strat and LP styled guitars everywhere.
Don't really think that this is much different.

I emailed him a few months back about that very picture, asking what the one on the left was. It was at the bottom of this page:
http://www.myrareguitars.com/affordableGUITAR.html

He emailed me back and told me it was a prototype for Eastwood. He also said if they got enough interest expressed they may make more of them. I told him I would be very interested.

Ahhh, I was going to ask the same thing AJ. I searched for it today and found that page, but didn't go deep enough.

But, man! Are Eastwoods any good? The Mosrite copies look pretty good. And the Airlines and others are cool too, IMHO. I think DZilla has a hollowbody Eastwood.

I emailed them a question as to whether the case they use for the GP copy would fit an original.
Did reply but weren't all that helpful.
Just said didn't know.

Thats a nice very early white Breadwinner

Sorry AJ. I've been saying goodbye to a guitar tonight.

Yes, my rare guitars site. I know someone from another forum who has a blue Breadwinner and he found it and emailed the guy.

Only difference from Scooter's story is that this time he said they were indeed going into production.

Managed to get hold of a white Breadwinner from the US, expecting it any time now, you could certainly put my name down for the Eastwood copy though !

Jim, I've sent you a picture as an attachment on your email, seem to have trouble creating links on this site. (my fault, I know !)
Hope you got those backing plates for the Breadwinner pickups sorted !

Ovation did not drop the ball.

Rick Hall just informed me that they shut down the Eastwood, repro. Ovation has prototypes made and were considering offering the guitar as a repro but it never came about.

Rick did say never say never because you never know but currently Ovation is reserving the right to reissue that one on their own. He mentioned that there was not a great interest from the key dealers. (I assume that does not include me)

so dream on guys, as your breadwinner/deacons hit higher and higher prices on e bay you may see an authorized reissue but be sure it will not be made in CT. (but never say never)

Everywhere I've seen something of this posted, it's created interest. Maybe some "key dealers" (present company excluded) need to pull their heads out of their um... er...

deep bowls

Why sit on this design if the company never intend to re-use it. I've made my own body out of a solid piece of Honduras Mahogany - am I in breach of copyright?

Also, how can so may Strat and Gibson look-alikes be produced without there being a problem?
