I'm hoping that Noah can grab it. (If not Noah then hopefully somebody in the family!)

Jeff....this is why you save your money instead of foolishly spending it on lap dances and Hamer guitars!

Thank you T28! :D
Moody, we will do everthing possible to bring her to Orange County. ;)

One problem though...
when Stephen called, he told Cindy that this is the "last guitar that I will ever need!"

Not if it stays American.....and the overseasa market seems to be geared more to the Adamas.

You gonna go after it?

don't be naive, guys. why does the seller want to hide the bidder id? he could be bidding on his own items with different id's.

fd-14 have been selling for around $700 for years.
two new (#48 & #50) couldn't get sold for $699 for 3-4 relists. the dealer told me he sold them for less off ebay.

Mr. A has a point. While the FD 14 is probably worth $2k (it certainly competes in the market sound-wise), they haven't been selling for over a grand. In it's first day, this guitar bumps up over $700?

But the other factor to consider is that the seller has 762 transactions with a perfect track record. The auction is something to watch.

If anybody has any questions (like why are the auction bidders private), it would be interesting to see how the seller responds.

Mr. A,
You always quote great prices on items from 2-3 years ago. The market for O's has jumped dramatically in the last year and even more so in the last 6 months. Look at recent Deacons, Vipers and Breadwinners. Double the price from a year ago.

I am glad you got all of yours at such a steal but the rest of us will just have to pay the current price if we want a special or rare guitar.

A guitar is worth what the buyer thinks it's worth. Nobody holds a gun to your head and makes you raise the bid and pay more.

My personal way of bidding is I set the price I will pay, enter it, and forget about it. If I win I win and at a price I was willing to pay. If I lose, it is because someone wanted it more than me.

the most recent one was just a few months ago, at $700.

are you the seller of this particular fd14 or his friend? why does he want to hide the bidder id?

not everyone is created equal. you can do whatever you like, e.g. buy the taylor t5 if you have the money =)

Thanks for allowing me to do what I want.
I appreciate your approval!

The seller is a store and leaves his phone number and name for questions. Why don't you call him up, ask him your questions and report back here to all of us?

Fascinating comments...yr 2004-current numbers I have would project a selling price of $1,400.

Will they eventually "cap out"? Sure, but not yet.

Many of the U.S. Ovations are experiencing increases of 20% or more...some, like the FD-14 are averaging 25% or more. When's the last time you could get an excellent '76 Patriot for $400?? A Millennium (NOS) sold last year for $2,499.

Obviously, there is more than one willing bidder on this one.

My guess is 2 people with early feeding frenzy. First one has placed a respectable bid and the 2nd one has made a reasonable run at trying to get it. Only way to explain that quick early bidding.

My predication is that it won't move for a while now that the early action has taken place.

Nothing fishy... nothing behind the curtain...

Ended early, sold to highest bidder, but it appears that eBay removed (or moved) that option.

I have seen "listing ended early... sold to highest bidder" before. The option is discussed in eBay Help. Maybe Sellers have not told eBay that they cannot find that option.

Thank you T28 for the heads-up and advice yesterday.

Yes
The seller is really a nice guy. I told him that I was his high bidder and wanted his guitar.
The high bid was sitting @ 14.

A wonderful day, but remember... Stephen told Cindy yesterday that "this is the last guitar I will ever need".
Cindy feels that this is a very good investment to end GAS pains.

Thanks Jeff.
If we can ever figure out a way to rotate guitars among members, it will be in the rotation.

Great grab Bruce but don't go giving Jeff any ideas about guitar rotations.

Jeff, did you bid on this or were you still in the thinking stage?
