Got the black 1537 in this week and it is a beauty. Doesn't sound or play any better than my natural 1537 that I got from Tony but it satisfies my craving for a black guitar. Since I don't believe in having multiple guitars of the same type, and since it is one of the rarer and best sounding ovations around, it needs to go to a good home that will play it weekly.

Here is your chance to get a great guitar at a great price and have your name added to the select serial number list that StandingO keeps for the really rare guitars.

More pics in my gallery. I will sell it for the same price I paid Tony for it plus Shipping and insurance.......so $750 + shipping.

You've just ruined my weekend!

If only I were single...of course, if I buy it, I could kill two birds with one stone!

It's a whole lot cheaper than the bathroom I just remodeled for her!

Norsey, you gotta buy that guitar. You'll never find another for that kind of price and if you just did a remodel for the wife, then you owe it to yourself. I've always been able to parley something big for my wife into a new guitar or engine for the sports car or something.

You guys aint making this any easier!

And it was downright dirty bringing sound logic into the whole thing as well. I know it's the right guitar, I know I "might" be able to milk the bathroom deal...

Man this is tuff. Somebody buy it and make up my mind for me.

Daughter getting married August 6th...the bills for that are just beginning to cha-ching!

I know the timing is wrong financially, but emotionally I could pull the trigger in a heartbeat.

What to do?!!

Well,

sitting here teaching summer school because of financial concerns over the upcoming wedding pretty much says it all I guess.

I'll have to pass. Someday perhaps it will happen, but I guess not today.

It was fun dreamin for a while though!

Thanks for the encouragement guys, and putting up with my "dreamin out loud" posts!

Amen Brother! I'm finding it out right now. Funny, my daughter wanted to have the reception at our home (outside)...I was thinkin a few hundred bucks for a Pig Roast, beans, and folding chairs...HA! was I wrong! Just to RENT a tent/canopy big enough for a few hundred people (as weather is unpredictable here), they want $900.00! Well, that aint gonna happen!!!
I'm thinkin each guest gets a plate and an umbrella from the dollar store!

My daughter is about in tears everytime I say what I think, so I've learned to shut-up. She finds no humor in my cost cutting suggestions! And I thought borrowing the usher suits from the local church for the groomsmen was a great idea...and emergency candles at the dollar store only cost a buck for TEN of 'em!

If I could only convince them how much better the music would sound on that 1537...but they've already quoted the "can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear" sentiment listening to me practice!

Norseman,
My wife went back to work after 13 years and she paid for the remodeled bathroom. Then I went ahead and bought The Red Flame Elite T from Al :D

Weddings sure are fun, I got one coming up this year. Lots of zeros in them. The problem is that they are between the number and the decimal point.

Norseman, My experience exactly. As I was having sticker shock and would make a more economical suggestions my wife would give me "the look" and my daughter would roll her eyes, then my wife would whip out the card - done deal. I tried to stay out of it as much as possible, while still trying to appear to be the supportive Dad.

Actually you could bury the cost of the 1537 in the flower or catering bill and not even notice!

Stephen has respectfully declined.... he needs cash, having some heavy duty Adamas gas... wife says if he can turn over some of the surplus(see other sales),
he may still sleep inside ;) j/k

nice 1537 having been repaired by and belonging to a couple of our other esteemed members.

God Bless,

Glenn

This is the guitar that Tony originally had a thread on about a year ago. I don't remember all the details (Tony can chime in to fill in the blanks).

Basically, someone had screwed down the floating fretboard. Tony got the guitar, removed the screw, and filled in the hole. Very professional looking job.

I never thought anything of it since the guitar looks and plays beautifully.....and because of the repair, Tony offered it to me at a remarkable price compared to the going rate for most 1537's.

Since Tony was good to me, I am now offering this wonderful guitar to someone else in the OFC for the same price I paid for it.

Tony has said he would be happy to adopt it again in the event that another OFC member does not take advantage of the opportunity.

Dave, of course I am one of "us". I am secretly trying to breed a new class of Ovation groupies that will have a severe heredity case of GAS!

Just remember the secret password!

Jeff asked where I am. I'm in the poorhouse. Just got back from 3 weeks vacation this month and my car was in the shop all week and haven't seen the bill yet.
Fortunately, my wife paid for our trip to Italy, but I doubt she's feeling too generous. I bought the Classic and Balladeer after I missed out on the last 1537.
Stephen, doesn't sound like you'd go for a layaway plan.

the repair done by Tony C. is well documented here in other threads and should not be a point of issue on this guitar... other than the horror that someone actually screwed the fingerboard down... will be a great addition to anyone's home here... and at a very generous price

hope it sells soon for you Stephen.

God Bless,

Glenn
