Can't wait till it arrives at the end of the week. I have been playing for over 35 years but have never owned an Ovation, but this KOA is so beautiful I could just not resist (GAS). I hope it plays/sounds as good as it looks! LM

LOL! Anyway I am sure this will not be my last Ovation but the first in my stable. I will post some pics once it arrives. LM

Joined: June 2008 Posts: 1 | Hi everyone, I've been looking at that guitar for a while at my local Guitar Center. I really like the sound of it, but I am a bit worried because the top isn't solid and that there are better electronics out there. Any more feedback on this guitar, or just other comments on laminate koa versus solid wood?

How do you like the sound and playability? I really like how they've matched the headstock and to be honest, I wasn't expecting a roundhole guitar. I really like the way that one looks! FireStarter -- the best advice I ever got was "buy what sounds and feels good to you and don't listen to the stove knitters". Some lams sound better than solid top guitars. I've got two. No one can tell me the guitars are crap because I don't care ... they work great for me and the stove knitters are just a bunch of windbags, anyway. As for the electronics, it depends on your situation but the OP-20 may be plenty enough for your needs, and if not some of them can easily be swapped out (not sure about the -20 or not).

And I still haven't figured-out what that is suppose to do, and I have three guitars with it! An OP20 and an OP30 are not interchangeable. One has six contacts, one has eight. So if you wanna change 'em, you gotta change the can too. On the laminate versus solid-top thing, I have had some very nice sounding celebrity's. My CS257 is laminate, and I like it. But it is an SSB and made to be plugged-in. I have an acoustic Takamine with a plywood top, and it sounds very nice (for what it is).

OP20 and OP30 may be interchangeable... oops! OP30 and OP-Pro are not... MY bad  =================================== On the laminate versus solid-top thing, I have had some very nice sounding celebrity's. My CS257 is laminate, and I like it. I took my new KOA Cleb with me on this trip and really bonded with it. It has a very mellow sound and bright at the same time unplugged. Plugged in, I love the flexibility in the sound settings and the tuner works well and convenient to use. Over all I am very happy and I got a great deal to boot at only 425.00 brand new. I have a nice padded gig-bag but I think I would like to purchase a nice hardshell because it deserves one. Any good deals out there on a case? Thanks Everyone! :)
