You know though, even if I could buy it right now, I wouldn't, just due to the fact that I have had THREE guitars damaged over the past three years by the combination of UPS/FED EX/and Old Man Winter!!! Only seen adjustment/responsibility taken by the shipping co. ONCE so far. Just isn't worth a lifetime of damage due to a cold spell and a careless grunt having a busy day delivering.

And the majority of those that would drop 2-large on a guitar are going to want something that smells like wood and has a high end name on it. Put a D28 and a 1537 side by side in a shop for the same price. Let people play them both and 9 out of 10 will buy the Martin. Sad but true. Dave

You might consider asking the seller, MWoody or MisterGolf to hold it for you until it warms up a bit and then ship it. Unless the bidding goes crazy tomorrow, this one should be tough to pass up. It's almost as good as the one I paid $1000 for and better than some that have sold for more than that.

I tell you what, I am getting soooooooooooooo frustrated...I seem to be able to finance everything else that gets dumped on me, but I can't find the dime for a 1537...everytime a great guitar comes along, I'm on the outside looking in. Oh well, that's life! Norse(sorry about the rant but MAN!)man1 p.s. not to take away from the great guitars I have been blessed with...God is good...but families are E-X-P-E-N-S-I-V-E !!!!! (and priceless).

But we are a speck of dust among the guitar buying public. Also, forget how many people say they "like" this one or that one better. Put them side by side for the same price and see which one SELLS. I predict the Martin sells 10:1 of the 1537. Moody asks a great question - why? Dave, would people buy the Martin because it's an all wood guitar with the name Martin on it, or because they would think it sounds better? The NAME and the LOOKS are a big thing. Nobody is going to second guess you for buying the Martin. As dearly as I LOVE Ovations and will continue to play and collect them, I am very, very tired of having to almost appologize to people that I own a "cheap" guitar with a "plastic" back. ARGGGGGG! The SOUND is almost impossible to objective about. Everyones ears hear things differently. MAYBE the 1537 is a more pure and clear sound than the Martin. But you know what? I think to most people the Martin sounds more like the think a guitar "should" sound. I know that's crazy and maybe I'm not explaining it well. Here's pretty much the whole thing in summary and it happened to me personally. A few years ago my own dear wife, who knows me better than any other person and has lived through a huge number of Ovations coming in and out the door, she says to me - "Why don't you get rid of most of these guitars and get yourself one REALLY NICE ONE, like a Martin". Now, she doesn't know Martin from Fartin', but somehow she knew that THAT was the standard and no matter what, THAT should be the ultimate goal for me. 'Nuf said ....

Dave How'd you do that. I can normally justify add a guitar only if it is different than those I already have.

That's EXACTLY what my wife told me recently ... I'd been GAS(ing) on a black Al DiMeola model for quite sometime now, and was thinking of parting with both the balladeer and applause, in addition to saving up some money, when she said that. Heck, she's not even happy with the current DM that I own, and she wants me to part with that too for an HD-28, which she claims is the one "REALLY NICE ONE."

Then wait for a hungry OFC member, sell one of them and you will probably turn a small profit on your "average" investment.
