Joined: August 2005 Posts: 130 | Third time's the charm, right? Hopefully this will hold true here. I'm offering my Breadwinner Limited for sale again. For those not familiar with this guitar, it is a 1979-1981 Breadwinner Limited in the Barnwood finish. This was one of only 500 made. Mahogany body and neck, ebony board, all-original active elctronics and hardware (excepting the truss rod cover; more on this below.) Condition is VG. Serial number is E 18778, making this a late-production one if other serials I've seen for these is any indication. First, where do the problems lie? Over its lifetime, this guitar has acquired some small finish dings, as visible in the pictures below. The second one just barely goes through to the wood; the first one is a finish ding only. There is also a 3/16" ding in the top edge near the other two dings, which I do not have a photo of (but can get one if someone wants to see it.) There are also a number of small finish dings scattered over the back of the guitar, including an area of small indentations from a belt buckle under the trough (?) of the tummy cut. These do not go through the finish. There are some small dings around the points of the lower body. The headstock tip is virtually free of wear, but there is a 2/16" ding on the back of the headstock, right under its "peak." On the front of the guitar, there is an extremely shallow depression which shows up under direct lighting; it can be seen below. This guitar was recently sent into the Mothership for a refresher; the main work that was done there was a fret level and dress and a nut level and dress. Also, the bridge pickup mount was repaired and the fret edges (which had previously been rough) were filed and brought even with the edge of the fingerboard; they are now very smooth. I will include all repair documentation I recieved from Kaman Music with the guitar. Playability-wise, the guitar now has medium-low action and extremely smooth frets as a result of the Mothership's handiwork. The main problem in this area is with the upper frets; the notes played from fret 22-24 will sound slightly flat relative to pitch unless you apply some serious pressure on the string (i.e., with a fingernail.) If you typically do not use these frets in your playing, you won't notice any problems intonation-wise on any other areas of the neck. The truss rod has been replaced with one of MWoody's wood pieces; it's an Ebony laminate over walnut and compliments the guitar well. I will include the original in the sale, though I think you'll agree that the wood TRC looks better. Also included is the original case, which is in good condition. It is scuffed from use, and there is corrosion on the metal trim. The lid for the compartment under the neck has come off, though it may be reparable. The ribbon connecting the case halves is still intact. Pics are available on request. My price is $850, though I'm willing to bargain. Unfortunately, I cannot accept trades. Shipping from Ohio to the lower 48 will run about $35. I will pack the guitar in the Ovation protector box that was used to ship it back to me from Conneticut. I can provide most any picture of the guitar; PM me and I'll snap some for you. Breadwinners (and especially Limiteds) are going up in value and this one is in an unusual finish; I've only seen two other Barnwood Limiteds. Snag this nice one now as a collector's piece that you can play. Other pics, in no particular order: ![]()

You saved a few bucks but unless you start low most people will shy away. Let them warm up and think about how nice it would be to own that instrument! You have zero Feedback. To some serious players that screams "No Way". I went out an bought some guitar picks, some veneer and some other things so stupid I can't remember what they are. There is no cat in your pictures. Its not scientific but trust me on this one! You got this guitar as a bargain as I remember. Enjoy it or send it to my house if you're tired of looking at it!

I did the "Cat" thing, it was not scientific...Cat is just a pester and I was sick of trying to take the shot and not get a cat part somewhere in the image... But the bids are rolling in so perhaps having a cat in the photo is the answer when the time comes to list it?? Randy

The working theory at this point is that they subconsciously think it means that if they win the guitar, they'll get more....no, I can't do it. Boney, this one's yours, too.

The fact they showed up later meant that the later bridges and electronics were used. I think as Bill said, they where using up the piles of parts. Have you tried the Limited shape? Very comfortable! Acres of neck!
