Cal. | U681 (prototype, a little different from final production model, see other threads) vs 2008C -- simple observation: U681 - awesome bass, ringing trebles 2008C - typical Adamas, consistent throughout the range, but very raw still (I could still smell the wood through the holes on top).. probably needs some more time to warm up some more: U681 - butter smooth, heavenly sound 2008C - nice potential, we shall see Don't get me wrong the 2008C is still a top-notch guitar, it's just the U681 is out of this world!

Joined: May 2008 Posts: 12 | Hi OFCers, I was baffled by some of the comments of some people here when one kind OFCer showed me how to look thru my past posts... There seems to be some misunderstanding as I thought I would get responses straight thru my email when someone posted a message like when you PM someone...or I would usually just wait for my topic to "pop" up in the general posts section or PM people directly. I guess this wasnt the best way as I realize that my posts were still being replied to by people and hence i wasnt able to respond properly to them...I apologize for that as it was not my intention to slight anyone. I usually respond to people as soon as I can when they PM me but sometimes this can take a while as the office I work in frowns upon employees using the internet for personal use. I just read thru mosts posts and I just wanted to express my thanks to all who responded to my general posts and PMs. This really is a great site! To introduce myself properly, my name is Jose and I'm still trying to find my first Adamas. im trying to find the best suited for me as it is going to be quite sometime before I buy another one. I had my sights set for a 47 RI which was in my budget (WarEagle's) but he changed his mind at the last minute. (Hey Kieth, Im still hoping you'd sell me your 47 RI! :) Help me out OFCers! :) Other people were kind enough to offer their 47 RI but those were just out of my budget at this time. It seems that I might have to go with either a UTE or a 2008c hence this post. Hopefully I'd be able to close a deal within the week... one way or the other, I'm going to get my first Adamas and I hope its worth it! Thanks to everyone again for all the input. Really appreciate it!

Everything an Adamas should be and while you see the UTE pop up with regulatory in the "FOR SALE" Section (everybody loves them but seem to sell them anyway), I have yet to see anyone put up an '08 Collectors for sale. Call Al and just do it.

I just wondered, why you'd never answer and open one thread after the other- but I have said this before. One little tip: Under the "Quick reply" field there is a button "Full Reply Form", click it and enable the Option "Email Notification". Then you won't miss an answer to your threads. According the guitars: Nearly everything is said, here and in the other posts. Be aware that the U681 and the 08C are different "concepts": One for example is a 12fret, non cutaway, while the other one is 14 fret clear to the body with a cutaway. Soundwise you can't go wrong with any of the textured tops. Best regards, Kurt

Since the UTE prototype is almost impossible to get (only 2 or 3 around), and the production model is not exactly the same thing. Furthermore, the 2008C is more versatile and well suited for different styles of playing. Be it rhythm, solo work or finger style. TO expand further, any texture top Adamas would generally be above average.

The U681T sold new for about $1,700, a surprisingly LOW cost for the tremendous value. The CVT 1680 came out about $1,000 more and without the textured top. Takes a lot of "other" to make up for the fact that you can buy the U681T at a used price and a LOT less than the 47RI, OFC, and the 2008C. My vote for the greatest value to cost of any guitar that Adamas has sold (or will sell).

I guess all things taken into consideration, it really boils down to what pleases you.... Just wish I didnt have to choose and I could just buy all of them. I think I have GAS and I have'nt even bought one guitar yet....
