Location: CA | Seems like everyone who ordered one of these should have it by now. I got what was represented to me as #10 in this limited run of 10 (apparently preceded by an additional four at some earlier time, so 14 total). Mine's serial #619372. In a 'Sweetwater' post a couple of days ago, Old Man Arthur notes his was serial XXX356. Although I have no idea how Ovation actually numbers their guitars in Hartford, it seems odd to me that the numbers for these particular custom-order guitars wouldn't be sequential. So 1) Can anyone explain that? and 2) What are the serial numbers for the other Sweetwater T guitars ordered by members of the forum here? |

But I can hazard a guess....
When they are making 2078T's, only a very few of them will have the Koa inlay.
I thought about this, and guess that they only have one person doing this order, so he/she grabs a T and carves-out the inlay, puts it together and starts another.
Meanwhile, other technicians are making other Contour Bowl guitars outta the same pile of "Blanks", (or whatever they call faceless-proto-guitars).
I figure that some are T's, some are Elites, and some Lucky parts got made into mine. :rolleyes:
edit-- And Iffy, I was told that I had the 3rd order outta the ten, but mine is 619356... :confused:
Unless mine was one from the first lot that someone had planned to take home?

Also keep in mind that SW just got 'em, set 'em up and shipped 'em.
As to the MS end, clueless... (not unusual for moi)

Location: Boise, Idaho | Look at Dave's Ovation Gallery registration pages. Even on very limited editions (although not as limited as 10) the numbers are really spread out. It seems they build a bunch of different models at the same time. |

Location: South of most, North of few | I know this would come up, very funny Jimbo. :D I could have waited, as I backed out when I knew it would only be a couple of days left. There were two reasons why I did it. One was because I had played an elite t shortly before that and really wasn't too enamored with it. Before you all jump on the trader, it's just a personal opinion. I'm sure they are great guitars, just not my cup o T. The second was that there were 11 people who had money on them, (I think the 11th one was a member here) and I figured they could use it better than I could. I know I probably could have bought it, and held it for a month or so, and maybe made a little money on it, but I'm not in the "guitar for profit" business. I just like to try them out and pass them on. |

I had been playing the KoaT exclusively since it arrived until my last practice session when I decided the AD-II needed some attention. I was reminded why this guitar had that name on it and why it cost more than 2 times the koaT. I know the collective "we" here at the OFC has had some mighty praise for the EliteT series. That praise has also carried the "most bang for the buck" qualifier. Now that I acually own one I know just how true that statement is. However, it is what it is.
And what it is, is a quantum leap over the 3/4 size Trekker it replaced. I'm really happy to have the koaT hanging on the wall. |

Also... I would be very, very surprised if Sweetwater took the time to make sure that the earliest order got the earlier serial number.
They got 10 in... grabbed the paperwork, reached for closest guitar at hand and zoom, zoom, zoom... out it went. |

I just did a side-by-side... My 1778T sounds different, Maybe Better. This isn't quite apples/oranges, cuz my 1778T is 30,000 guitars older than the 2078T so the top is well opened. Also, I ain't quite sure about the strings. I have only received two NEW new USO's and one new Celebrity, and the factory-installed strings always sound "different" (not better) to me.
(I have also dissected the Old T, reset the neck and stuff.)
They are quite similar...
But the Old T is borderline Better! But it also sounds better than the Orange Flame T... :confused: Go figger... |

But remember... Huber-Breese purchased this guitar from the samples the Kaman(?) rep was hauling around. And it is not a contour bowl. Maybe mine is the "let's see what this looks like" prototype. |

The necks would be inscribed with a date and then tossed in bins, only to be grabbed and used in any order, some say not until as much as the following year! |

Location: south east Michigan | I guess that to the factory a number is just something that keeps track if an instrument for warrenty purposes. It's "fans" like us who make the serial number into some sort of magical thing.
They need to put that guy Monk in charge of serial numbers. Then they would be all neat and tidy. |
