Round-back guitars are notorious for slipping on your leg due to the shape and texture of their fiberglass bowl. Finally ... there is a solution that really works !

Slip-Grip is a self-adhesive, "anti-slip" patch that eliminates the frustrating slipping motion of round-back guitars when they are played while sitting down.

If you would like more information regarding Slip-Grip, please contact me at: Slip-Grip@verizon.net

The Slip-Grip folks were kind enough to send out some samples and ask for opinions several months back. If slippage is a problem for you, give these a try.

Jim, I remember several of us mentioned the "glue" issue. Was this ever addressed?

Welcome back Jim,

Were you ever able to address the adhesion issue of the patch to the bowl?

After cleaning the bowl area with an alcohol wipe and geting the paper backing off the patch, it applied easily to the bowl.

The "anti-slip" surface worked, but I found the Slip-Grip Patch only partially attached to the bowl the next morning.

I am one of the slipgripfolkloseroftheslipgripaftertwodays.....but the hint with the hairspray was perfect.

My slip-grips (3) are sitting tight now.

All I can say is, that it works perfectly for me now. If you have the problem of losing your guitar all the time (where the hell is my legend???) give it a try and your baby will stay on your knees...

I must have been cutting class the day hairspray was discussed. Can I borrow someone's notes?

Me too. No matter what I tried, the thing was either on the floor or headed that way the next morning.
I'd be interested in knowing what might make them stay put.

I still don't get the whole "Slippage" thing in the first place.

Mine have never slipped either but it appears to be a common problem. I think it is the angle at which some people hold/place their guitars on their laps....or maybe they started out with box guitars vs ovations and developed bad habits.

I never heard about the "hair spray" solution either.

Mine falls off overnight when the guitar is hanging on the wall.

Hairspray has a number of uses like this. I put new handlebar grips on my bicycles using hairspray. You spray it on and as a liquid it acts as a lubricant so you can slide the grip easily on the handlebar. Then it dries just like a glue and holds the grip firmly in place.

I've never had any troubles with slipping either, but that does not mean the problem does not exist for others. 3M bathtub anti-slip tape also works well.

Mine adheres fairly well on my '92 1767, but at times it tends to curl up a little on the edges..

And the floral accent motif really adds to your stage presence as well.

The gay rubber non-slip daisies are made by Rubbermaid . . not 3M.

(At least, that's what Witko tells me . . . .)

Who better to know the supplier of latex products. I just didn't realize his interests extended beyond latex haberdashers.

I stand corrected. A nice segue back towards the Guitarminitrix topic

Rubbermaid makes a wide variety of non-skip tape and decal designs, such as fish, mermaids, kitties, etc. However they do not make daisies. You have to get the daisies from a company called FunMats.

3M makes anti-skid tape which is 3/4 inch wide and 17 inch long. Just cut it to size and stick it on.

Rumor has it that my former "life partner" Standingovation is also working on a line of anti-skid products which should hit the market soon. We can only hope his defination of a anti-skid is the same as ours.

Hey, those "gay" daisies were mandatory on our VW Busses in the 60s and 70s. I took them off in the 80s.

Being as "GraphicallyAstute" with a brush as I was(am), I didn't go the route of festooning my VW with pre-packaged, die-cut, corporate bathroom accessories . . .

. . . seemed a bit too "Establishment" at the time . . .

Too late.

Oh, wait... anti-skid or anti-skidmark?

I still say the best solution is to glue a big hairy pad to the back of the bowl and then wear a velcro shirt. You wouldnt even need a strap.

Just stop leaning on your guitar!!!

Also available for those that have the leaning disability:

Wood Arm Pad

Unnecessary but strangely exotic accessories!
