I am going after them (2davis), hopefully will get the first one, if not, more aggressive on the second one, so be gentle okay. Of course, may get sniped on both....oh well. I am somewhat surprised by the lack of action, but this is a first year and not everyone is into the style. Guess we will see what happens. The contour back and VIP look pretty sweet to me.

I am hoping to persuade my spouse that I really shouldn't be there anyway, but not sure that is going to hold up. Not losing hope yet, but certainly is a cloud on the horizon.

Course, this is the story of top of the line Ovation and Adamas. I was able to play it at NAMM...very nice. Heck, Elderly has it advertised at $2,099 with "on order, expected arrival date unknown".

Although he did not cost you much, the Seller of the other 2080 (the one with the stock picture) bid against you at the wire. Maybe that other Seller won't have anything to sell now. Their bidding does not appear to have raised the final price by much, but sure looks shady for an eBay Seller.

I am sure he is probably nervous about where his auction is going since he surely paid several hundred more than what I just paid. I find it odd that neither auction has a reserve. That would be unusual in my ebay experience for such items, don't you think? Maybe they are really the same person? Irregardless, it if is as advertised, it should be one sweet guitar. Probably my last AE purchase ever (I owned my 1537 for over 10 years before I bought the W597). The W597 will go on the block as soon as I confirm that the 2080 is everything I think it will be. Since I don't collect guitars, I am looking for that one best compromise in instruments that will last me a long, long time. The 1537 will probably be my only "collectors" guitar. Jeff

I am really trying to find the "life" guitar now and this one seems to have all the characteristics of that, so when I get to play it along side the other two I own, it should make for an interesting comparison.

Joined: September 2004 Posts: 777 Location: East Wenatchee, WA | I received an email from the guy who ran the bidding up a bit, then pulled his auction. I had asked him why he did that unless he intended to buy another. His response was simply "let me know how you like the 2080, I would be interested in your opinion". I am confused???????????????????????

Joined: December 2004 Posts: 1673 Location: SoCal | Mark, The guy with the other 2080 pulled his auction. I wrote him asking for actual pictures and a serial#. I never got a response. I'd venture to say that the guy did not have a 2080 to sell.
