I pulled out a couple of shims last night and it now plays like a completely different guitar, so despite it's quirks, will retain the 2080. This of course means the W597 will go on the block. $900 plus you pay the shipping of your choice, and this includes a nearly new TKL hard shell case. The guitar plays fantastic as I just had the action and neck set by my shop. Op50 electronics with both XLR and 1/4 inch plugs. This unit is the natural (grey) with wood epulets and is a mid-bowl. Flaws...yup it has a couple (for $900 you buy some character). It has pick scratches below the strings and behind the lower epulet. These are the ones that just dull the finish a bit and can be buffed out. Biggest flaw is someone was a bit too aggressive on dressing the fret edges and you can see where the ebony is ever so slightly dished in a couple of spots. Does not affect the look and playability of the guitar, but hey... its there so it gets disclosed. The W597 is under rated as Adamaii go in my opinion. It has a brighter sound that the deep bowls, yet a strong bass none-the-less. Kind of like playing a bass guitar through 4-10" instead of 1-15". Punchy I guess. Anyway that's my story. Oh. Paypal really whacks me on fees, so while I will accept it as a form of payment, please adjust for the fees. Email me at: jeffreyrdavis@yahoo.com Oh...tdeej, since you inspected the instrument, feel free to interject your unbiased opinion. And don't hold back on any flaws or misrepresentations.

I had thought about slipping the tags on his onto mine and swapping out, but couldn't tell enough difference to justify the risk of getting caught.

If I hadn't just made a couple of purchases last month and put two kids back in college this month, it would be heading my way. I do like it.

Seems like it was that color that looks black sometimes and burgundy sometimes. If it's the one I saw in Portland, but never got around to playing, it is beautiful.

They are not closeups or anything. email at the above address and I will try to get a few more pictures to send you directly. It is the "natural" or greyish black color. Biggest difference between it and most 597's on ebay is that it has the Op50 electronics which I beleive are the most current offered on the 597.

Then Jeff should wait a longer time for my check to clear before allowing me to turn the guitar over. But I won't even charge a commission for being the middleman.

Jeff, no need for further pictures. I'm really not sure this is going to happen any time soon for me. Although I am hopeful, we have to see how the budget shakes out over the next month. That's a great guitar that will make someone happy. If it's still available when I can come up with the money we'll talk. The amount we have to put into tuition each month is more than twice what you're asking. If it weren't such a superior education it would be easy to find other uses for that money.

I seem to be teetering with gas, w/limited amount of cash. You never know if everything is going to fall apart around you! Anyway "pmub"

Joined: September 2004 Posts: 777 Location: East Wenatchee, WA | Thanks Phil, It is a really nice playing instrument and I am torn between the W597 and the 2080 for my purposes which is primarily a plugged in instrument. Both do the task well, but I have decided to hang on to the 2080 for now. Although that may change. As for the price, the truth is, I got a good deal on it, so to this group, I am passing on the good deal. No mark up over what I paid for it in January (in fact, a bit of a hit after I had it properly set up). I will likely try it on ebay in a few weeks. I have been procrastinating since I have not sold anything on ebay before, just relied on forums and boards like this one.

I'm very leery of the whole process. Why don't they disclose up front step by step? I still can't figure out how to use paypal!?

If you are receiving money, you will be charged some exhorbanant fee (can't remember what it is....3 or 4% maybe). In my case, I pay with Paypal using a Mastercard rather than my account, however to receive money, you need a verified account anyway, although you can let the money sit in the Paypal account and use it to buy other stuff. Basically to draw the money out, you have an ACH (automated clearing house) transaction originated to your bank account. Takes a few days (think of all the interest paypal makes while sitting on your money), but it arrives less the fee. Ebay doesn't seem to be a big issue either unless you are a merchant, then I guess it gets expensive too (according to both my Mom and Daughter who are ebay retailers).

All that glossy finish reflection is a bear. For anyone else interested, I just uploaded a few shots in Cardinalflyer, W597 for sale in the members access section.
