Well, I can think of one Wabbit that will be hopping on this (at least in spirit!) when he gets back from vacation next week!

Seriously tho' Al;
NICE guitar and HatsOff to you for making it happen.

The only "suggestion(s)" I might have would be to put a black saddle on it
and have all the labels signed by Darren.

Did anybody (witko/jeff/waskel/etc....) compare the sound of this guitar (that John is holding in the pic)with the #47RI?

Also, since the soundholes are similar, how this one sounds vs the 2080?

I know listening conditions weren't optimal but I am sure this gang somehow formed an opinion.

To steal a quote from Brad:

Apples & Oranges.

If anything, it's close to the '06 Collectors with a bit more "oomph" (12-fret).

I'm really glad these are being done.

These are the guitars that Ovation SHOULD have been making . . .

t, I have played all three. 47-ri is in a sound class all its own. the 2080 is actually a close second to 47ri. clear toned, very rich sounding, full tone, not as bassy as the 1581RI, but it has a deep even sound. The koa limited as I remember was a mini cannon. as close to an adamas as an ovation can get. of course you gotta take this all with a grain of salt (and a lime and a shot).

if you have heard/played the koa collectors-you will doubly lo9ve the koa lost art limited (KLAL)

Thanks Mike...that helps a lot when it comes to deciding if the money needs to go for one of the last 47RIs or the KLAL.

Since the humidity here is so horrible on the wood tops, I tend to sway more towards the Adamas line anyway....but damn that Koa looks pretty!

I played the koa prototype long before anyone else. I also played one of the first 2080 prototypes and I sat there just smiling. I think the 2080 bridges the original adamas guitar with a modern day equivalent.

I have been trying to get this guitar built since I saw it and now it will come to fruition.

final specs on the way.

look for sequencial numbering
certificates
tortise binding
and a third input to pump in extra mojo.
