Due to this lack of sales, I have boxes of CDs that I am going to have to move somehow.
So, my CD "Con La Lluvia" (which I used my Ovations in many tunes) is available to OFCers for $5 including media shipping in the US.

Friend of mine is a music teacher and has written several books, recorded several CDs in support of instructional materials she has written for her programs. She sells to teachers all over the world.
One of her CDs has sold more than a 50,000 copies. She tried to register with the Canadian recording industry to get her gold record. They don't recognize her independent sales figures. |

There is a very interesting industry letter that is published by Bob Lefsetz. We got dialed into this when my son's song got released. You can subscribe at www.lefsetz.com. But the one I got a day or so ago is somewhat applicable to the situation that CA is finding himself in --- Interesting Reading. |

At that price, you might want to try moving them on half.com. I bet you'd sell them all.
The CD is on the way out, just like the lp. My neice one day asked me, after seeing a vendor in brooklyn, uncle, why are those cd cases so big? And I told her, those are not cds, those are record albums, and she said, I've seen DJ's use them. She owns no cd's, it's all in her computer and in her mp3 player. I believe she uses one from creative technologies. I'll miss holding the the box and reading the liner notes ...
Though I heard the decline in sales has slowed. I guess the independants and specialists are taking up the slack. |

The CD's I got, I play once into my Media Player, then I might burn some songs on disc to take to work.
(Then I don't care if I get paint all over them... Not piracy, really!)
But I have thought about buying a turntable, cuz you can get some classic stuff at Thrift Stores. |

Location: Texas | Temp, you are absolutely right, there will be no more CDs and I will not manufacture more.
My problem now is that I have 10 releases, so I have many boxes of each one, in addition to various compilations that I am also included.
An yes Tony, I have LPs available too. :) "Sergiology" released in 1984 and "The New One" released in 1981.
So I have boxes of my LPs, cassettes, and CDs. They use to sell on gigs and stores, but now it is only downloads, and yes I am already on all the popular downloads sites, which means nothing, barely any sales.
So the idea is to move this product I already have.
The record stores will consign, that is the way it works, all the CDs you see in stores are there on consignment and labels have to wait to get paid until they sell, but I am not playing that game anymore, they will just gather dust plus it is a hassle getting paid.
Many of my friends in the biz are disolving bands and waiting to see what is going to happen, I visited with a friend a few weeks ago, he is the leader of a well known swing band from Austin, TX, we met at our lawyer's office and we were chatting and another friend asked him how was business, and he said, ...well, we made $1 million Dls. last year.........................it cost me $2 million"..................true story.
I tell you guys, the music biz is ruined, music as a hobby is great, and these days the only way to barely make ends meet it is to play constantly on the road and I am not doing that any more. There is no money and I have a family.
Would you go out on the road with a bunch of guys and leave your wife home? Let me know and I will stay with your wife. :)
Just kidding around of course.

I see guys my age all the time who sneer at "hobby bands".
