Actually, Gentlemen, I found this one through my miserable failure on the earlier Adamas outbid, hence the bottomfeeder reference on my other thread. Probably a "kneejerk reaction" on the GC, but I really love those necks, and the price, well...... I'll keep you all posted on the rehab process. Not sure it will get to New Hartford, or need to.

Worth the investment regardless, maybe the crack is just in the finish, save the top anyway...

That's my intent. My '82 Collector's has got some nasty, albeit repaired, fissures, but sounds great.
I'm probably close to "critical mass" in terms of critters vs. available space, with incoming projects. I'm thinking the 1117 may have to move out. Case has been repaired, and the patches repainted. Custom mosaic rosette. Those Legend necks, though.....you know what they say about gals with thin wrists, right?

OK, an update.
The critter has arrived. The crack is through the top, just off the center joint, bridge-to-bottom. A-bracing, 1974 manufacture. Moderate top "dive", with no saddle adjustment left- good candidate for a "bowl-bend", I suspect.
I'm going to commune with The Wizards & Alchemists @ The MotherShip, and determine if they opine reasonable feasibility of repair.
The OHSC is in very good shape, and it has a piezo under-saddle pickup, also.
All-in-all, I'm very stoked, and feeling a delightful glow of larceny.

A bracing? The factory didn't offer that on the GC's in 1974....

Well, it certainly isn't an X-brace. How 'bout VT? Now that I think about it, I think that's it.
The "V" points to the treble side, and there are 5 small braces arrayed inside the "V".
Does that sound more plausible?

The Wizard has spoken. I might have to mortgage Toto. I'm thinkin' I may just string up the critter (the guitar, not the dog), and play it for awhile. I already have a magical 1127-4 redone at The MotherShip, so I'm attempting to gild the lily, I suspect.
Worse case scenario is I totally screw the pooch (the guitar, again) with my shadetree luthiery skills, and have to send it to New Hartford, anyway.

Is that Yakamese for "better wait and not mess this one up"?

That's where I am at with the 1537 although I have recurring thoughts of doing it myself.

Maybe if I watch a few more of those Trading/Wrecking Places home shows on HGTV I'll feel better about letting the Pros handle it!

Enjoy!

Paul, esentially they recycled my 1975 1127 neck. I have a new AAA top & bowl attached to it. With A-brace patterning. And, I have an autographed label by some of The Wizards, to boot. I opted not to install a preamp. It's the best playin' gitter I own, or have put my hands on. The JW shinybowl comes damn close, though. And, for totally different reasons.

Thanks for this info, now I will be looking inside my guitars with a dentist's mirror.

And I missed this one too! The case is worth BIN!

Durn near, Arthur. I am sorely tempted to dive into this critter. I raised the top on the 1117, and refinished the top, with good success. I did a bowl-bend on an 1114, also, so I know it can be done.
