It has come to my attention that some people feel that e_a_g_l_e_p_i did something wrong with the ebay sale of his vintage ovation guitar. I am here to clear up any rumors and set everyone straight.

I was looking to purchase the guitar for my brother. After I ended up winning I offered to do a trade for part of the cost and cash for the rest (I was looking to get rid of a Yamaha EG-112PF electric guitar kit that I just acquired and my X-mas budget was getting tight). E_a_g_l_e_p_i wasn't interested in my guitar. Though I offered to go on and buy his guitar for the winning bid, he suggested we just cancel the transaction. I was glad he was understanding because I really could use the money elsewhere.

It is unfortunate that people automatically jump to conclusions and start awful rumors. I shouldn't have felt the need to explain myself or what transpired between e_a_g_l_e_p_i and me. E_a_g_l_e_p_i has done nothing wrong. Hopefully this clears up the situation and the rumors.

You are welcome. I just needed to clear the air about the whole thing. I apologize for causing such a mess with it all.

You didn't cause any problem. We tend to get a little excited about Ovations around here. We wouldn't be Ovation fans if we were ambivalent about them. Reactions and overreactions are to be expected. We hope you continue in your quest for an Ovation.

My brother is the guitar player, though I love the sound of acoustic guitar. I will be honest in that I don't know much about the Ovation. I have heard of them, but have VERY limited knowledge. I was the cello and violin player in the family. I never could grasp the guitar, though I never tried taking lessons. Who knows...maybe in my next life!

Yes, the cello. The funny thing is, I was in 5th grade when I started playing the cello. I did it for 2 years, but got tired of hauling that thing on the bus. So I switched to the violin and did that for 5 years or so. I am hoping to get back to playing the cello though. I love that instrument!

The cello is the closest sound to the human voice (no electrionics). A Mother's hummed lullaby might be one of the reasons we are drawn to their sound.

I really like it when an artists records in the string section.

Pick yourself up a CD by Eugene Friesen .

(I recommend the 1989 "Arms Around You" CD)

I have a regular gig with the Colorado Symphony Orchestra. Sometimes, it requires that I enter the stage riding bicycles and other contraptions through a narrow aisle between a row of basses and a row of cellos. With about 30 pounds of costume, I can't even see what it is that I'm riding, let alone being in any kind of control. One year, a self-designated cellist found me backstage and asked if I could be extra careful on my entrance. She said there was at least a million dollars of instruments represented in those two rows. One of the bass players used an instrument made in the 1700's. Some of these musicians have higher loan payments on their instruments than their home mortgage. A third row violinist told me that his mid-grade instrument coist him $78,000 ten years ago, and he now had a line on a better model that was at least double that figure. A tough life for sure. I have nothing but the deepest appreciation for the full-time symphony musician.

Yo Yo Ma's Bach Concertos for Unaccompanied Cello are awe-inspiring musical masterpieces. Gives me goosebums.

I'll have to check-out Eugene Friesen.

I know all about greasebums, loosebums and gluebums. I've honestly never head of goosebums.

Thanks, Cliff, for the info on Eugene. I DEFINITELY will have to check it out.

MW - yes, you walked right into that one! Too funny!

I just have a fondness for the sound of string instruments (perferably not electrified) and accoustic guitar, (though I can dig a good electric rip). Cello is by far my favorite, with the sounds of accoustic guitar a close second.
