a 12 string viper/bluebird

or am I SOL and they're as rare as hen's teeth?

I guess a gator bass case/generic gitter case will do, but was looking for a real O case that fits..

Some of them. The later ones are longer in order to fit the Preacher Deluxe 12 string.

The Preacher 12 case that I have at the house is 43 7/8 inches (outside dimension).

From the look of it, I'd say this is a later case:

thanks BruDev. that's the one I was looking at, Al also said he had one in the attic some time ago as well.... there's 2 ofc members on the one on e-bay already. we'll see where it goes... it doesn't have to have a case until it's finished out anyway..

the Box-o-parts will be here today..and the bridge should be here from CT next week. can't wait to see and hold that neck... feels like Christmas already(kinda is since the parts is pretty much all I'm getting).

Glenn - I'm not in desparate need of a case at this point, so I'll back off the one on ebay.

So the factory still has 12-string solidbody bridges??

Once the holidays are over, I've got a whole load of parts to make a few solidbodies as well. I've also got a tribute going.

CL, I too am not in desperate need, but would be nice... go for it.. when the Bluebird is complete and after the new year.. I'll worry about finding one if I can.

thanks for reminding me.. I need to call John B.. with the credit card info... he was out yesterday don't know how many 12 bridges are left but know they have them... I may have an extra gold 6 string bridge available with studs if you're interested.

a local tank/bike/mural painter from one of our many custom Harley/Sled shops here in Brevard..surprisingly called "painter".

The Body is being done in a Blueburst transparent, which will start opaque at the edges matching the headstock color/fairydust and then fade from blue to almost clear over the center of the body. the bluebird stencil is actually being done in chrome mylar which will be under the finish.. and should match the silver Ovation logo on the headstock almost perfectly.

just got off the phone w/john B... the bridge is on it's way...along with some extra trinkets/hs decals.. :D

Have him TEST that mylar under the clear-coat before it makes it to the guitar. Sometimes (depending on the formulations) the mylar make be adversely affected by the solvents . . . .

absolutely Cliff, and thanks,

right now it has just been finish-sanded and a couple of light clear-coats are on just to seal, I'm taking the neck down today after it arrives, and we'll start seeing about matching up some color.

I'm not rushing anything about this one... it is going to be done as right as I can... and if it looks as good in person as it currently does in my minds-eye.. should be an awesome looking guitar.

Pseudo..... I know of only one urelite body. It's somewhere in CA on an Applause guitar. A member used to have it and sold it. I'd love to track it down.

I'd still like to know more about the paint job you're getting.....

wow... brown left a couple of hours ago, and I've been like a kid in a candy-store, or under the tree on christmas day..

lot's of very nice old stuff...bridges, knobs, necks, plates, pickups, controls, and related necessary hardware...

the old BB neck is awesome, I guess that Glen didn't like the minor bubbles in the finish on the back of the neck...

as this is the only Deluxe version with the flag/stamp inlays that I've ever seen.. other than the one in the youtube video, I'm wondering if this is the neck off that guitar.

the headstock color is right from what I can tell in the video, and the inlays are definitely right.

plus I also got a couple of OFC t-shirts, some blue OFC picks, a hat, and an Ovation promotional cd "unique voices"..

so it's now too late to get to the paint shop.. oh well... tomorrow.

I currently have the bb neck loose-fitted on the uk body and hung on the wall with a new gold 6 string bridge on..

till the other body is finished and complete I may set it up as a UKXII, the neck is within a 32nd of an inch or so of actually seating fully in the pocket. will only have to shave the sides of the pocket about the thickness of the paint on either side to get it all the way in.

the binding at the mustache is loose so, ran a piece of masking tape over it to secure it till can be re-glued. no electronics tuners or pickups in it yet, the other natural neck is just swinging by itself in another hanger.

Miles sold me a blank viper p/g as well undrilled for screws, pots, or controls/connections and for the time being and until I can get some preacher pickups, the bluebird is going to be set up with the NOS storm pickup and controls set.

fun, fun, fun, will start another thread and will begin photo-documenting the whole process on the Bluebird.

Thanks Miles!!

it's still an awesome neck.

the uk body is just a placeholder, it will get to a playable state first as a 12 string, then...as a 6 and I have a NOS natural neck to replace the 12.

I'm having a NOS ViperIII body that was stripped/stained and embedded with ground knuckle-skin and parts of our own Mwoody..
professionally painted, stained and finished out in a nice gloss..

that is going to be the body for the Bluebird 12.

it is a beautiful piece of wood, and the wonderful grain that was under that bomb-proof black finish is going to be revealed in a transparent blueburst.. I really do appreciate the hard and intensive work that that must have involved.

as things come together, I'm hoping to maybe commission a nicely grained p/g, stained a complimenting shade of blue, and a matching trc, with maybe a piece of gold abalone inlaid, if there's any floating around out there ;) , and if someone knows anyone that does that sort of thing

thanks for the great work you did on the body Michael, that nice grain you revealed will still(mostly) be showing.

I was offering to pay, and not just begging for them, but I do understand if you don't have the time as it is the holidays...and I wasn't inferring that it was needed immediately, but thanks anyway Michael.

maybe sometime after the new year, it's gonna be several weeks to get this all finished and together anyway.

come on Bruce, you know he's not my flavor, and I love you best man!! :p

I know... you said, commission.

The, down on one knee, referred to Woody saying, It may be a while before I get back into the shop mode.

So tell me... when we see the phrase "down on one knee", we think of begging. But isn't it the traditional method for a marriage proposal? Even a quick google search on the phrase supports marriage proposal.

So how did you propose to your wife?

Or if you've been married more than once, did you do it better (or worse) the second or third time?

took me 3 tries to get it right.(3rd time married)
and if this one ain't right... well I'll be dead soon enough..j/k Char.

her third time round too... think it absolutely scared the crap out of both of us to even consider it after our wonderfully failed 1st and 2nd attempts...

but she's my best friend. I make sure I tell her that and that I love her every day.

our 5th wedding anniversary is on the 28th. we wanted lot's of celebration around it. so we had the wedding between Christmas and New Years.

Inlay is not something I can do well. It can be fun to try but there is a lot of waste in the effort. Most of my projects go out for the cost of materials. As Glenn is seeing it is a thrill and challenge to take a project through conception to completion.

Cultural Semantics; Down on one knee is respect while down on two is submission.

I know it was another thread about my 2/3rds success on marriage. My best Wife and I have had initial and ten year ceremonies.
