"Comedian-actor George Carlin, know for his raunchy, but insightful humor, died Sunday in Los Angeles, his publicist said. He was 71."

He will be missed! We're getting older fast! "Hippy Dippy Weather Man" etc. brought a lot of laughs...Thanks George; RIP

I'm too sad for my own words.. but ironically the first 7 that came to mind when I read this... were his.

He was one of the best. I got to see him a couple years ago in Wilmington, man he was hillarious. He will be missed.

my father and I saw him many times over the years in AC, and he has always been one of my and Char's favorite comedians.... he will most definitely be missed.

one of Char's gifts while in the hospital this time was a copy of his book.

Keep em laughing and thinking wherever you go now George. you're missed by us here already.

Glenn and Char

A great loss. His was a rare combination of high intelligence, keen analysis, and razor-sharp wit. His gift to us was to make us laugh at our foibles and hypocrisies. One of he greatest thinkers of our time.

I heard the news this morning. Very sad, great loss. I actually allowed my sons to listen to his cd's. Even though they are ages 15,12,9. The one thing that they will always remember is: "If there are two people in an elevator and one of them farts, they both know who did it"-George Carlin.

I was on the theater floor with laughter when I saw him in Havre De Grace, a number of years back.

"How do you know if a moth farts?..."
"- He flies straight."

We need Funny people. Losing one is a great loss.... Losing George is a cultural setback.

In his memory, I guess I'll go deprive someone else of their education...

I always love Carlin - his comedy routines are priceless and he made every movie he was in better.

Time to pop on one of his vinyls.

Just heard about his passing on the news. George was a tremendous influence on me in high school. I could recite the whole album "Class Clown"... Much to the chagrin of my teachers.

And those seven words are....

Saw him back in the 70's at the old Forum in Los Angeles. His timing was impeccable. AOL has links to four of his classic and uncensored clips in their headline. He pushed free speech to the limit and lead the way for countless followers.

Al, that is an awesome list that actually contains a few names that I do not recognize. Thanks for that info as I will be checking them out!

His genius was words. He could analyse everyday conversation, and make it sound so hilarious "if an orange is orange, why isn't a lemon yellow"

A devastating loss.

I remember sneaking my uncle's "Class Clown" and "Occupation Fool" albums when nobody was around. Over and over, I couldn't wait till everyone would leave the house so I could play them again.

I'm bummed.

Youtube 'Carlin 10 Commandments'. He gets it down to 2. Hilarious. A unique individual. Glad we got to share the time slot with him.

Very sad news. Carlin, Firesign Theater and the National Lampoon radio hour provided the soundtrack to a lot of good times in my youth.

I wonder where they'll keep all his "stuff"

carlin's diatribe on "the american dream" is so very tragically true. it would still be truth without all the "f'in" though.

Just wasted an hour's worth of gas for Lunch driving around listening to RawDog on Sirius . . . they're doing an all-day tribute to Carlin . . . laughed/cried the whole time.

Tonight I'll have to watch him in the movie "Dogma".
That whole "Buddy Christ" bit was brilliant!!

Do you measure gas usage in miles/lunch?
