Well lets just say I want the best for the least, If there is a $200 guitar that will be a good starter why pay more?

keep trollin' the bay, you can get a made in USA O, for low money.. but you have to beat most of us to them...

good luck,

I have a very nice 1621-4, with OHSC, near your price range. I also have a rather interesting Matrix refurbishment that will probably be available. It needs to be played. A lot (new top). I can send pictures of both, if interested.

A little note to keep in mind . . . the better the quality of the guitar, the easier it will be to play, particularly for a beginner.

My factory-reject "used" GC057 was about that much. Ain't a USO, but it ain't bad for what it is.
They have Deep Bowl Applesuace, everyday, all day on Ebay for $199. Or you can be patient, and wait for the Lucky USO.
Good Hunting.

I'd go for the 1621. I picked one up in Arizona last year that a friend bought off ebay. It was right around $200. It's not a great guitar, but for that money, it was one of the best things out there.

I will most likely go with the 1621-4 if it's in good condition but I see I can get a Applause AE28 new for under $200 free shipping.

can someone give me the pros and cons on each ??

Thanks

a new applause is a new applause, a low end starter guitar, plywood top, nato neck, poorer quality hardware, generally mediocre tone.. and almost always need a major set-up to not be a finger shredder... but if is what you can afford is better than a lot of it's competition in the same price range..

the 1621 is a much nicer instrument, used, even if it costs a little more than the applause. solid spruce top, mahogany neck(5 piece), better tuners and better all-around build quality and components. plugged in they sound great, and the solid top will definitely(almost) always sound better than a ply top... there are duds and jewels out there on both sides.

as long as it's in fair to good condition go with a usa model anytime over the offshores..

jmo tho

Sooner have an old USA model than a new overseas anyday. Even if it has that "typical Ovation" crack (whatever that is). If you're patient, you can find a very nice older model reasonable. Just remember, you don't want to have to buy it twice cause you saved a little the first time. BTW, welcome back e_a_g_l_e!

I just missed out on this 1976 Glen Campbell.

76 Glen Campbell

I had PM'd EaglePI, but it didn't have electronics. It would have been a great grab. A better sniper than I snagged it. Anyone here?

Absitively, and they work, too! Volume-only-type, active preamp, with piezoelectric pickup.

Jason,
I trust your opinion I am almost begging him to send me pictures.........lol of the 1621-4 I understand he may have to take them so I don't blame him for the time it's taking. I guess I want to know if it comes with a case also.

Hopefully he will email me soon...
Thanks for looking out for me !!
