Joined: February 2004 Posts: 49 Location: Wisconsin | Just to let you guys know....I am putting an Ovation Elite 1537 and an Adamas 1681 on eBay. The 1537 begins Friday night and the Adamas begins on Saturday night. The 1537 is natural in color and is as sweet as any 1537. It does have a finish crack and 2 small dings around the edge, but plays and sounds awesome. If you want to buy it before it goes up for auction, I will let it go for $625 delivered to any address in the lower 48 states. The Adamas 1681 is blue and is in near mint condition. It is a 2 knobber from the first year of Adamas II production (1981?). There are no issues with this guitar and sounds as good as any Adamas. These older deep bowl textured top Adamii really are awesome. If you want to buy it before it hits the 'bay, you can buy it for $1200 delivered to any address in the lower 48. I will probably have more O's up for sale as I have honed in on the few guitars that work best for me. I'll be sure to give you guys first dibs before sending it to eBay.

Joined: February 2004 Posts: 49 Location: Wisconsin | Right now, I am having a wonderful time playing my Adamas 1187 Reissue and FD-14. At church I use my Ute to lead children in worship. A while ago I had my 1987 Collector's advertised in this forum for sale, but lately I have been playing it quite a bit and have fallen back in love with it. We just moved, and I am in the mood to pare down the stuff in my life. Its so hard to pick the guitars to let go of, but I've found that once I find them new homes, I am just as happy with those that I have chosen to keep. And I figure that if I miss them enough, I can always have the fun in searching and acquiring them again. Thanks for your support of my sales.

Of course it isn't as hard to get around Wisconsin as it is Hawaii. BTW, I really miss the Tak :-( I NEED A GUITAR...but I don't have any money. :-( Champagne dreams and Mad Dog money. Joined: February 2004 Posts: 80 Location: Tampa, FL | Thanks guys for letting me know that this is a great opportunity. I hope we can close the deal shortly because I need a guitar! I don't expect this guitar to replace the Tak. The Tak was suppose to be in Randy's hands. It just took an extra step to get there. It was meant to be his all the time. Sometimes letting something go only makes us appreciate it that much more. Whether that is viewed as Randy letting it go or me letting it go is inconsequential. It simply was meant to be Randy's and I'm confident it is his purpose to get it and mine to have tried it. I'd like to add something about this forum. I've hovered around here only from time to time. I normally spent time on other forums looking for guitars to satisfy my GAS. I really appreciate those forums for what they are. No need to mention them, they are what they are. As common and unfounded as it is said, Ovations don't get enough respect from guitarists. I think most of that is regurgetation to fit into a group. The 2003 Collectors I owned was a wonderful guitar. I really do miss it. I have no idea how this guitar will compare, though I hope favorably. More importantly, I find myself visiting here more and more. Maybe its because there is more attention to substance instead of the name on the headstock. That isn't to say that some manufactures don't reserve the respect they deserve (and lack thereof), because they do. But, I know I can mention other manufacturers around here and most folks would say nice things about them. Reciprocity isn't always the case elsewhere. I don't believe it's well founded and I read posts every once in a while from an Ovation owner who defends them, but it usually falls on indifferent ears. Maybe I'm realizing that there's more to these guitars than what I heard around. That's ok even if they don't pan out becuase I've truly enjoyed my time here. How else would I have learned about the Tak? I can't think of another forum where someone would have given me an opportunity to share in the experience of owning one without something in it for themselves. I'm not saying that would be wrong, it just isn't the type of member here. And, I'm not saying that all other forums are bad. I hope I don't have to waste any more of your time explaining myself. If I do, I'm sorry. Sorry for the rant. Just my long-winded way (hey, I'm from CHICAGO!) of saying thanks for everything. Regards, Mark

Joined: February 2004 Posts: 80 Location: Tampa, FL | Randy, I'm sending him payment tomorrow. Then its just waiting. I've read about sending guitars back to the factory to get reconditioned, etc... I don't think this guitar needs anything, but I was wondering if it needed anything what is the process to get it to the factory? I think this guitar will be as comfortable with me as I will be with it. There are newer guitars with newer electronics, but everyone really compliments this guitar. So, I'm very much looking forward to getting it! Thanks again for everyone's help and insight. Regards, Mark

I cannot emphasize enough how good these guys are to deal with but don't take my word for it - just do a search. Their work is well documented. Just let 'em know if you think you have an issue and the rest of it will take care of itself. Good luck and enjoy.

Joined: February 2004 Posts: 548 Location: Up North | Congrats on your new 1537 Mark, if once you get it and think it could use a spa treatment at the mothership, just contact John B. (I can send you his email, just PM me) and get a return authorization #. Once they get it, they'll give you a quote, at which point you can decide what you want done. They did about twice as much work as we discussed and basically brought my 1537 back to showroom new quality for the originally quoted price. So whatever amount of work they do, I guarantee you won't be disappointed.
