I have pics up at the ebay site. Check it out!

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=015&sspagename=STR...

I'm selling it for my sister. She got it used from a guitar store in Gainesville, GA hoping to learn some classical guitar. She's decided to move on and sell it.

Let me know if anyone has any questions about it!

Looks like you're getting some bids and you should get a fair price if the reserve isn't too high. Presumably it's less than the $550 BIN you had in the earlier listing.

My understanding is that the 1114 is meant to be a steel-string guitar. People are often confused by the slothead. I've got an 1124 which is the nylon-string equivalent.

Hi and welcome to the OFC!

One question: Why not offer it for sale here on the OFC first prior to Fleabay?

You'll probably get more attention here than on the Fleabay and you'll be able to keep a beautiful guitar in the OFC family.

Regardless, good luck with the sale. Very pretty guitar!

Regards,
Mark

@guiguite:
Yeah, the condition is really good. No scratches or body damage. Some cracks on the enamel around the soundhole, but I'm led to believe this is extremely common on these older Ovations. The guitar has great tone.

@numbfingers:
As far as I know, this guitar has always been strung with Nylon strings. As you say though, the 1124 is the nylon Josh White model. Wish me (and my sister) luck then!

It was made for steel strings. The bridge would be rectangular for nylon strings. The nut may or may not have been changed to accommodate the nylon strings. I think the 1124 and 1624 also had a slightly narrower neck and they also had the shallower, artist depth bowl. Many people mistake these for nylon string guitars. That's how I got mine. The Folklores were the Josh White replacements. Great guitars.

Lets get it right: The Folklore model numbers were 1114 and 1614, the 2nd digit indicates acoustic (1) and electric-acoustic (6) and the 3rd digit indicates bowl depth (HOW MANY TIMES DO WE NEED TO DO THIS? AAAAAARGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) The Country Artists were 1124 and 1624, the "2" indicating the shallow bowl as opposed to the "1" of the Deepbowl. Nut widths were the same but the steelstring Folklore was cambered while the nylon string CA was flat. The CA had a 14 fret neck, Folklore was 12. Now you all need to go home and write this out a hundred times.

Folklores in -4 (sunburst) are not too common and very nice. Good luck with the auction.

Yeah, should have kept mine, but then Gway would have such a bad case of gas, he would probably have exploded by now. I think he offered to sell it back,....lets see, with his profit margin, retirement fund, and shipping and handling, it would have cost me double. Live and learn...

If I went home I could just look. I shouldn't have said anything about the width at the nut, I just remembered they felt different. How could I have forgotten the 14 vs. 12 fret neck, though? Should have just stuck with "there are a bunch of differences."

Sorry Mark, I sounded like some mad tyrannical school teacher there. I've just got home from a gig and I put it down to lack of alcohol. Now, where's that corkscrew..........

I'm used to your mad tirades, Paul. I should have just waited till I got home to do a more thoughtful reply.

Is sunburst -1 or -4? Anyway, I'm easily confused, my Country Artist is a 1624, not 1124.

Sunburst is -1, Natural is -4

Also 16-- is electric, 11-- is acoustic only.
But there are exceptions to every rule :p

Technically, it's a "winky" face,
and it's probably only there because the corkscrew slipped and landed on the keyboard . . .

Jim, when you stopped by work today and was kinda hinting around that you might like to buy the ole 1614 back, I said I'd sell it back to you for what I paid you for it. Why, I had no idea how much money I could lose that way, I mean with profit margins an such, so lets just call it a "storage" fee! ;)

Samuel - thats a nice looking guitar - I guess it will go for more than I can afford - dang! Numbfingers, would the 1114 model that you say is meant for steel strings have the deep bowl? According to Templeman the 3rd digit 1 = deep bowl? I've heard that the Ovations with composite tops have the deepest tones - do you guys agree? I know they are out of my pricerange. Does anyone know of a decent deep bowl model around for $200 or so?

Public apology: Gary did say he would sell it back at the price I sold it to him, which I thought was more than fair. There's only one problem... I'm broke!

Well, so obviously it didn't sell on eBay. Is anyone here interested in this guitar? I'm willing to take offers, but no trades please. PM me if you're seriously interested. Thanks!
