I'm betting this won't last long. If I had the cash it would already be gone.

My favorite wood topped Ovation guitar. Period. No discussion. Mike is out of his mind (again) and I mean that in the kindest way.

'Zilla- I was going to pour some more fuel on the fire, but decided you were in enough pain already. It's some serious change and not a snap type decision.

If you can swing it, you won't be disapointed. On the upside, there is no shortage of demand for this critter, so if you decide it's not for you, pass it forward.

Look at it this way, if you buy it you'll have a great guitar. If you don't, you'll get to sleep in you own bed. Should be an easy call.

(I'll be bringing mine to the Swampfest if I'm able make it.)

Blues - I have been wanting to own one of these ever since I first heard about them. If I didn't think it's as incredible as everyone says I'm sure I could find it a home. Seeing as how my birthday is Monday, I would love to do this. It definitely wouldn't be the smartest financial decision I ever made, but that never stopped me before!

No, somebody should buy this and keep me out of trouble!

Blues, if you (and your FD-14) come down in October you'll be able to play the 1538. I hope you can make it!

'Zilla - I played JW's on my first Tour and, among all of the stellar guitars that were there, there were three or four that stuck out for me and the Fud was definitely one of 'em. Definitely as good as their rep. Might even be better.

(Happy birthday)

Ditto on this year's tour, the FD14 was number one woodtop on my list. This one is out of my reach, unfortunately.

I really wish one of you fence sitters would just hit the Bin and put an end to this hesitation and misery that you are feeling.

I would hate to see an outsider grab it.

Zilla, it's still there. It must be a sign! You could have it in time for the Southern Jam. You could stay with us at the motel......
(hope I've helped here) :D

The only thing that keeps me from bidding......is that it's non-electric.

So, how hard would it be to swap the bridge out and for which Ovation pickup/preamp combination?

But really. I don't think I'd buy a guitar I can't plug in. No matter how good it is.

Yup. What Cliff said. The electronics in the FD14 are pretty much my favorite ovation setup. I've had that same setup put in 2 adamas guitars as well. Sounds very nice indeed. Dave

If this guitar is so much better than any other wood topped O then why don't they keep making it?

If it was a limited edition, change the cosmetics and give it a new model number.

Good point, Richard, I've wondered the same thing myself. The lack of bling in the cosmetics is the main thing that convinced my wife I didn't need it when we looked at the one Elderly Instruments had in August 2003 ("$1400 for this plain-looking guitar?????!!!!"). This guitar, with Legend-level appointments, would be a killer package. Maybe they'll consider another run with a contour bowl.
