It's some serious change and not a snap type decision. If you can swing it, you won't be disapointed. On the upside, there is no shortage of demand for this critter, so if you decide it's not for you, pass it forward. Look at it this way, if you buy it you'll have a great guitar. If you don't, you'll get to sleep in you own bed. Should be an easy call. (I'll be bringing mine to the Swampfest if I'm able make it.)

If I didn't think it's as incredible as everyone says I'm sure I could find it a home. Seeing as how my birthday is Monday, I would love to do this. It definitely wouldn't be the smartest financial decision I ever made, but that never stopped me before! No, somebody should buy this and keep me out of trouble! Blues, if you (and your FD-14) come down in October you'll be able to play the 1538. I hope you can make it!

'Zilla - I played JW's on my first Tour and, among all of the stellar guitars that were there, there were three or four that stuck out for me and the Fud was definitely one of 'em. Definitely as good as their rep. Might even be better. (Happy birthday)

So, how hard would it be to swap the bridge out and for which Ovation pickup/preamp combination? But really. I don't think I'd buy a guitar I can't plug in. No matter how good it is.

The lack of bling in the cosmetics is the main thing that convinced my wife I didn't need it when we looked at the one Elderly Instruments had in August 2003 ("$1400 for this plain-looking guitar?????!!!!"). This guitar, with Legend-level appointments, would be a killer package. Maybe they'll consider another run with a contour bowl. Roger
