Collectable: Yes due to being on the front cover of the book. Only one guitar can make that claim.
Quality: Yes. Same ballpark as the 87 Collector. Slightly altered cosmetics and better electronics.

Location: Portland, OR | There wasn't much history so I emailed the seller and this is what he said:
The neck and headstock are a natural, matte finish. That's why it looks dull. I've owned the guitar for about six years and during that time it's been played about a dozen times. It's in perfect condition. I hope that helps. |

Location: The Great Pacific Northwest | I wonder whatever happened to the actual guitar that was used for the picture. It would be pretty easy to spot as the one on the book, the grain of the top is book-matched where on all of the "production" guitars I have seen the grain runs the other way, as in parallel with the strings.

Location: Cincinnati | It has to do with the shape of the epaulet. Some of them curve in at the end, '87 Collector, some curve out at the end, Book. |

Location: GATLINBURG TENNESSEE :) | I think the outies are the coolest looking! And I can assure you that I'm the absolute farthest thing from being gay in ANY way. (no offense intended to those of you who may prefer ... ah ... differently) I also prefer cutaways, but that's a different argument altogether. That may be why I like the outies, 'cause I don't remember seeing any on the cutaways. (That doesn't mean they don't exist on a non-cutaway though) |

Location: Portland, OR | Outies look more, well...feminine. At the same time they remind me of Chef Boyardee's mustache (assuming he has one). Like the sneetches on the beaches, I prefer the innies. Much more regal and masculine. But I'm torn between the light colored innies and the dark colored ones. Is there a meaning to their method of wood types? I wonder. |

If you'll notice, the standard shape of acoustic guitars is feminine (hourglass). I kinda' like the idea of having my hands all over a feminine-looking guitar vice a "masculine" model (: |
