Hello all,

Here's one we don't see for sale very often, and she's a beauty! A 2000 Collector's in very good condition that plays like crazy and looks ...well...marvelous! It's a Mid-depth C/A with a Figured Lacewood top that's stained in an unusually graceful finish called transparent honey. The figure in the stain is so intricate that it's difficult to describe. Up close the figure and graining is so tight that you just stare at it and say "That's really cool!" From a distance, the face fo the guitar shifts slightly as it moves in the light and catches the figuring from different angles. Then there's the sound. I just put new phosphor bronzes on it and it has a big, brassy sound that has a lot of punch. In other words, VERY nice.

A couple of other specs: Scale Length is 25 1/4" and a nutwidth of 1 11/16", the fretboard is strikingly grained Rosewood, it has a very classy inlay on the 12th fret. It comes with the Optima pre-amp with built-in tuner and the Tru-Balance pick-up.

It has only minor cosmetic issues: The gold-plating on the tuners has worn a little, the area where there is normally some pick-scratching is a little dull (though you can't tell from 5 feet away), there's also a single scratch (about an inch and a half long) on the back from someone's belt buckle probably, some slight wear on the "cowboy" frets, and two small dings on the headstock; which by the way has a matching Lacewood overlay and a lovely gold Ovation logo. You have to be within a couple of feet to notice any of this.

It comes with the 9158 hardshell case which has definitely seen some use. It apparently had stickers on it at one time which have been removed. It shows some scuffing and has two small cracks each just over an inch. (See Pictures) However, the hinges and clasps are solid and the interior is in good shape. The case should last a very long time.

Ask any questions. The pictures really don't do this one justice at all. Pay by Paypal, and I can usually ship within 24 hours. I'm asking $895 shipped in the continental U.S. International members need to check with me about shipping charges first, though I've shipped several instruments overseas without incident (knock on wood). I hope to hear from some of you soon; this guitar is definitely worth your time.

Here are the pictures of the back and the case. They didn't fit in the first posting.

Thanks again for looking!

With a little finesse, wishful thinking leads to more guitars.

Could someone tell me what the wood used on this top? Does not look like an American wood?? Almost looks like African Tiger Wood.
Curious.

According to Ovation's website, It's called Lacewood. I've never seen figuring like it. It's gorgeous.

A quick google found this Lacewood Characteristics

It's apparently from Australia! (I didn't know that.)

Just floatin' this one back to the top of the list before I leave the office. C'mon folks; talk to me! I've already got another git on the way, so this one needs to move before my wife finds out.

Since the travelers from the clinic are getting back now, I thought I'd bring this one to the surface again. I've put it on the 'Bay, but I'm getting to the point where I hate going there. Any offers here?

Here's an interesting update: I just posted a 30th Anniversary Collector's on another thread. I'm asking $825 for that one. Here’s a link to the thread:
1996 Collector\'s

If anyone is interested in getting both, I’ll ship them for $1595. That's right, both to you door for under $1600! I'm knocking $175 of the total asking price for the package deal. That's two Collector's series guitars for the price of one Adamas! Somebody talk to me. I'd love to avoid sellers fees on eBay for these.

Neither of my Collectors are doing very well on eBay right now. Someone here may want to keep an eye on them. You might get some great instruments for not much money being as I did not set a reserve.

Our good friend 2ifbyC sniped both the 2000 and my '96! The man's got ice water runnin' through his trigger finger!

I'm glad they stayed in the family. Thanks Iffy! :D

Now will someone please take this Blue Legend off my hands? I've got some horse tradin' to do with Kim Keller this week. ;)

I have one of these 2000s and they are remarkably good guitars for being a panelmeister. It's more of a mellow, woody sound than the typical Ovation. Plugged in, it kills. The looks are stunning ... pictures don't do them justice. I love the neck profile with the skinny fretboard. The rosewood fretboard on mine is amazingly beautiful ... I call it "tiger striped".

Guilty.

I might just flip it though. It was such a good deal that I took the shot without thinking it through. I'm actually set to send a project to the mothership, and buying this one could delay it. On the other hand, selling it would actually pay for the project. The ad didn't give you much to go on, but if the only problem is the finish crack, I'm not too worried about getting my money back out of it. I guess I'll just have to play it to see what kind of shape it's in first. :p
