Perfect example of why I will only throw out an initial low bid (just to get registered in the auction) and then snipe at the last seconds.

Doesn't always work but at least I feel it keeps the shills away to a small degree.

Unless and until someone here admits to bidding, there is (are) an Asian buyer(s) that has (have) been sweeping up the collectible Adamas offerings, both on eBarf and CL.

I've ran into this twice within the past 4-5 weeks on CL. One CL seller wrote that the buyer asked if there were any more for sell.

BTW, the buyer is paying asking price...

If it is Spider rarely pays what they are worth. He asked about the three I have sold so far and left me alone each time I quoted him a "Fair" BIN price.
Not to belittle another member but Spider has beat me to three ebay adamas's in the past and I was kind of angry about the final price he got two of them at.... and has recently asked me to remind him what I was asking for the 1587-8 I still am thinking of letting go. He is mainly interested in the early "Blue" two knobers. And he is looking for sellers that he can contact early in an auction and who do not know the value of these guitars. Must be getting harder and harder to buy these cheap.
He must make a killing on these with the value of the dollar being what it is in the asian market. Perhaps he will be paying near the $2000 or more like the rest of us soon as well.
This is what they seem to sell for. As for the shill bidding?? I do not think this is Spider, I think he is a "snip" kinda guy like many of us are. THis was how I lost two of my Adamas's, I put in a low bid and waited..... no one else bid either, the seller was thinking after 6 days that his guitar was not worth what he thought it was and Apparently he recieved an offer from our friend, and gladly took it, then ended the auction. By the time I found a way to contact this guy the guitar was sold & shipped for $900. ! I bid a little more now than I did.

Is it a 1687-9 or a 1689-9 wide neck ? Seems to be an old 1978 model ? Beautiful Adamas !

Seems to be a wide neck...? But specified not : 1687-9... really beautiful guitar and I agree : paul's walnut tuners should replace those ones...

i think the vintage look is what is most appealing to me. and knowing how good it sounds without even having to play it...

getting to play it would be far more preferential tho! :(

You're right Lanaki : those rare old ones 1978<#600 are the best sounding Adamas ever, after that in 1979 they introduced the suspended ring and then later around 1984 they modified the carbon textured top as it is today, I just forgot when they stopped the sandwich with piece of wood...
