Martin 000-28NB....Norman Blake Signature Edition

Because I fell in love with another guitar that chews it up and spits it out (personal opinion and preference of sound). YMMV :D

However, as far as Martins go, this is one of the best. 12 fret slothead on 14 fret body. Very unique sound and AFAIK the only time Martin has made this body style.

Signature edition, this one is low serial number 27. Guitar is excellent++/near mint. So is OHSC.

Here are more pics and info on the actual guitar when it was listed at Elderlys.

000-28 Norman Blake

I actually have a trade done on this guitar if I choose to exercise it but thought I would offer it up here for quick sale of $3200 + shippng.

Shout out if interested. The clock is ticking fast.

Must be a Collings? ;)

Nice Martin, the replacement must be really special. Best of luck with the sale.

stephen,

Very nice guitar. If I had not already bought an OM-18V. This would be a killer guitar.

Jim this would complement your CEO nicely. I'll store the 17S for when you come to Tennessee. It will save wear and tear on the guitar. :D

You're killing me here... ;)

Very nice guitar. If I'd had the $$$ that or something VERY like it would be in my house right now...to stay.

hmmm...haven't played a Collings yet, but I might feel that way about a Santa Cruz or a Bourgoise.

That headstock pike is kinda scary.

Someone could accidentally put out an eye.

That is a sweet guitar, Stephan. Too bad you have to let it go. Banker says a definate "NO" so I guess I'm out of the pursuit.

Good luck with the sale, as if you'll need it! :)

Well, as mentioned earlier I already have a trade worked out on it towards the new 6 banger.

Just thought I would offer this beauty up to my buddies before it went off to a stranger.

A day...maybe 2 at the most before I pull the plug.

An Ervin Somogyi, for $25K? Certainly separates the men from the ducks pretty adroitly.

Damon and I have talked about this idea: Maybe we need to start a "guitars anonymous" program, where if one of us sees a guitar and gets the urge to buy it, he or she can call one of the others to be "talked down". Stephen, I think you would benefit from this program also...

My problem is, I called Al, and instead of talking me down, he sold me an Adamas. ;)

TJ, believe it or not, my stable is steadily being reduced. It may not seem like it but it really is.

Fewer guitars, higher quality, same lousy talent.

THat's what I've been trying to do, but I still have the same amount for the most part. I sold 7 and traded 1 guitar last week, but for some strange reason, I only have 2 less tha when I started. The new ones are higher quality tho.

and ditto on the talent.

Stephen, I would absolutely love to take that one off your hands, but I seem to be stuck in the 1500-2k bracket. I don't think my ear or talent will let me go any higher.

You can always resell it in a couple months for the same price you paid for it.

I have found that over a period of a few months the better quality/sounding guitars begin to establish themselves over the lesser animals in the herd. Short term it is often hard to tell the difference.

The Somogyi is nice but I have a problem with spending that much money on a new guitar from an esoteric builder. Not that it isn't worth it, it is, but if you ever want to get out of it you have to find one of the other 4 guys in the world that want something that unique.
Talking out of the other side of my mouth I'd drop the big bucks for the right prewar Martin D in a heartbeat. I can always get it back and next year it will be more.

My infatuation with them began LONG ago when I was a kid.

He and my dad were friends, frequented the same watering hole in Berkley.

I doubt I'll ever own one. If I did, it would eventually be passed on to my kids (once they pried it from my cold dead hands). :D

Beal,
How much are those old Martins really worth? This much?
