You might want to bring your list to the Gathering.. I have most of what you want and I could use a few things you have.

Miles (or anyone else), do you have a breadwinner/deacon neck plate (chrome)?

Gulp!

I have a Chrome one piece Schaller in great condition. They are hard to find and I have it slated for use with a PD 12 neck but I'm open to sad stories!!!

I also have a Brass and Black Plastic 12 string bridge.

I've been messing with string gauges in an attempt to improve the intonation on my Deacon 12, and it's almost there, but a Schaller bridge would probably solve the problem. It's a guitar I rarely use and it's never been a problem in the past when I've used it live, but I'm right in the middle of recording an album and the intonation in the lower positions is just not good enough. I've had to record the 12-string overdubs 3 times, once with the guitar tuned so the lower positions intonate correctly, then retuned for the middle of the neck and again for the higher positions. It's a royal pain. That sad enough for ya, Master Woodford?

Not yet, I still haven't decided whether a full-blown conversion to a recording facility is a good idea or not. The college where Sam & I teach has been closed for summer break so we comandeered a couple of classrooms. In fact I just moved the kit out yesterday. Everythings done except the electric guitar and lapsteel parts, and I can do those at home using amp modelling software. There's office space which looks ideal just come up for lease in town, so I'm taking a look at that this week, so that may be the alternative to a garage rebuild.

Paul, I have a electric 12 bridge of unknown make. It has long saddle travel and is adjustable by fine Allen keys. No idea of the make, but if would help just let me know and it's yours :)

Padraig, if it has the same post centres as a Gibson stop-tail then it might work, other than that it's gotta be the Schaller or staying with the original. Can you shoot me a pic?

I'll have to check on those... I'm not sure I have them. Would the posts fit in the same post holders as the brass/plastic bridges?

The thread size is identical but the posts are different. The early bridges sit on top of the posts and are anchored against string tension by a third bolt through the rear of the body. The later Schaller bridge posts work like a Gibson stop-tail but are interchangable with the earlier Ovation posts.

Got 'em.

Questions:

- are these posts difficult to come by? I have one set of posts and three bridges (including this 12 string).
- are there any other off the shelf type posts that will fit the bill?

Paul - pm me and we can work out the details.

The anchor inserts are a .500" extra extra fine thread that I can't find a Machinist willing to duplicate for me. These are the same threads used to make fine adjustments.

Woody - have you checked with the factory? I know... silly question.

Someone, somewhere must have a stash of these things laying around.

Anyone? Bueller?

Last I checked the Bridges were available at a minimum of $150 each. The only posts and inserts available were those that were cannibalized.

I'll do some digging around here... there's got to be Someone who can make these things (posts and inserts... not the bridge).

Not available from Schaller?
Or are the posts an "O" part?

Ovation did some very purposeful diversification of parts. It can be a real SOB to find them.

Back on topic - I bet there is a Deacon shaped VXT in the near future.

Even if I have to make it!

Here is the Chrome 12 and a worn Gold 6 with a smattering of posts and such.
