Yes you all remember the 07 collectors

2007-BCS

Ovation’s 2007-BCS is the latest addition to the popular Collectors’ Series instruments. This limited production guitar incorporates several of Ovation’s most recent innovations and offers a unique blend of elegant styling and high-end performance. The 2007 soundboard is made from AAA grade Bear Claw Spruce, finished in Vintage natural stain. The top is fitted with scalloped bracing and a single, inlaid Spalted Maple epaulet that punches out tremendous volume. A “GS” Contour bowl helps maximize the acoustic output is ergonomically designed for comfort in any playing position. Powering the electric side is the VIP “Virtual Image Processing” preamp. The VIP replicates the sound of great microphones in a great room and gives players studio-quality performance to take to the stage, or to use in home recording.

Well there is a stash of "FRG" 07 collectors. And If you act now you can get one at a price of an entry level Ovation. Yes a PRO ovation with a BEAR CLAW SPRUCE top and a VIP preamp at the price of an elite T or standard balladeer or elite. As crazy as that may sound it is true. This guitar is 4 times the guitar an elite T or other low end model can ever be. I ordered one for my nephew and I cannot believe how nice it is.
when new this guitar listed for $2200 with case. Now your price is $899 shipped in the continental USA.

Act now they will not be here forever.
thanks
al

My wife just started to refer to Al by his first name. Now he's going to be back to "that guy in New Jersey." This may be a great fallback if I can't swing the LAV Koa.

I could use some cool freeze through the hair out in the high desert. But cool breeze would be good, too.

I'll trade my brand new Sweetwater T for one! Just hasn't grown on me like I thought it would.

I sure wish my uncle owned a vintage guitar sales business. So, are you saying that you at least got your lawn mowed out of the deal?

I sure wish I had hair for the cool or hot freeze or breeze to blow through.

That really is a great deal Al. I still have a few bucks I am hanging on to to finish the customs when they are done. Wish I had a little more.
Anyone reading this, this is one of the cool perks of being a member in here. Go for it!

I wonder is SWMBO would notice if I got off the plane with two guitar cases rather than one?

I DO like my Sweetwater T, and I'll bet that the unplugged sound is about the same as this guitar...but I'd choose this over any T in a heartbeat.

What is bear claw spruce and why does it sound better than spruce?

I don't know that bear claw spruce sounds better than non-bear claw spruce. I can't tell the difference, but then I don't have any guitars that are identical, except for the bear claw. The closest I can think of is my 30th CL with bear claw. I also played a 30 year old Custom Legend that didn't have the bear claw. They sounded similar, but I never got to play them next to each other.
The grade of spruce would also make a difference, but I'm not sure if my ears could detect it. I haven't been too impressed with the sound of the Ovations with bowl painted tops that I've played, but that may be my eyes listening. I don't care for the looks.

Bear Claw is the result of being under tremendous pressure while growing old in the Pacific Northwest.

But on me they just call them wrinkles...

It is a figuring that occurs on Old Growth Sitka Spruce so it's like adding a natural bling to something already great.

I've never heard (before this thread) that bearclaw spruce sounds better than the 'declawed' straight version. And I HAVE read, on this forum, the opinion that the 'nonskid' paint job on the Elite T guitars may be the very reason they sound so good — mayhaps even better than their gloss-top equivalents.

For the record, the Sweetwater T I have sounds and plays great. No complaints at all in that department once I set it up properly. And I think it looks great. The thing I don't like and can't get used to is the contour back. (Yes, I realize these 02 BCSs have the same back.) Except for perhaps a bit more bass in the 2078T when playing unplugged, I thought my former medium-bowl 1778T sounded every bit as good, and it was much more comfortable to play. So at some point when I have the time, I'll probably backtrack and get another one of those. I just wish they came with the inlaid epaulet. Oh well.
