I hate to let a sonic beauty like this go but I really need a cutaway (I bought an 07 Collectors) and I have another wonderful sounding deep body Ovation. This 1537 is rare for it’s condition (no surface cracks anywhere) and it’s color. The tobacco burst is difficult to find and really makes the guitar look like a spectacular antique. Several people have told me it was the most beautiful guitar they’ve ever seen! Very nice compliments to be sure. You know the 1537's sound fabulous but don't forget they also come with a stereo output that makes them extra fun.

This guitar is not perfect…there are 2 tiny dings in the front but they are nearly too small to photograph. There is a small area on the back where the paint has flaked off (see picture) but this is not very noticeable as you will see. This particular guitar was built in Connecticut in 1984 (serial number 302986). Brown Ovation hardshell case is included. It’s in good condition but has the usual scuff marks. All latches and hinges work perfectly and the interior is in great shape.

I took the opportunity to play this guitar side by side with my 07 Collectors (also a very nice guitar). The 1537 is louder and, I think, a little bit richer sounding so in a strange way, I was a little disappointed. I attribute this to the fact that the 07 is a cutaway. The frets have been professionally leveled and re-crowned. They are in very nice condition.

A few pics are shown below and several more are in my gallery. Asking $1050 + ½ Shipping. Comes with a 24 hour return policy (you pay shipping).

Several members have purchased guitars from me and I’m sure they’ll vouch for my honesty (if I pay them enough) and quick shipment.

Thanks.

Ooops. Didn't get pictures inserted. Imagine that. Let's try the Full Reply form using the IMAGE button. Should the pictures show up in the "Preview Post"? I think I'm in trouble again. My Right Click on the full size image does not offer a "Copy Image Location" option.

I love that burst. I have a couple of foster children to sell or I'd drive up and buy it. :(

Great guitars,
We've been up norf visiting and I've been stuck having to play the SLPT (super legend prototype) I am reminded how good these are, even with skinny necks.

gotta love a bursty 1537.

I read the post about there being 1000 and change of the 1537s made, but I forget if there was mention of how many were black, nat, and burst.

Anyone know?

Well, let's see, Damon...there's yours, there's mine, there's TJ's, and there's this one, so that's at least 4 bursty :D

Seriously, tho', good question, I'd like to know, too.

About 100 sunbursts and 50 black, give or take. I had two of the sunbursts, but they got jettisoned for 2 other kinda sunbursts. Sunburst just sounds better. Dave

The five ply binding looks terrific against the colors of the burst and the epaulet hardwoods. This one is a real looker.

I should rephrase that. Is it a deep bowl cutaway?

All it takes is cubic dollars..... :D

Besides, you already killed the guy you bought the 1537 from.

As far as I know, the 1547 IS the cutaway version of the 1537, identical in every other respect.

If I didn't have the 87C I'd have to fight you for a 1547 ;)

Don't mean to hijack this thread, tho. Someone NEEDS to get this 1537. Seriously.

Gotta agree. My burst 1537 is awesome. Good luck with the sale.

tdeej was supposed to bring it to Miles, with a few of his others, but we never heard from him. That would have been a nice representation of the Idaho Ovations, since I didn't bring anything. Just like yours, Damon, but with a cutaway. Maybe he figured that since you are a notorious guitar thief, he better not come.
