The fretboard was heavily gunked so whipped out the laxative (you know who you are!) and gave it a good clean. And touched up the bridge. Then waxed the neck, cleaned and polished the body. Near the treble epualet there was some REALLY HEAVY DUTY scratches. Looks like this has been strummed with a HEAVY pick for some years. Anyhow I took the plunge and tried some of the scratch remover cream I bought on Ebay but have never used (too scared to). LEt me say this : THAT STUFF WORKS!!!!! No scratches now - all gone, nice and glossy finish again. Incredible. So slung on some 11s and JESUS that is the nicest guitar in my collection, gorgeous tone, VERY easy to play. Now if the non textured tops are supposed to be inferior to textured tops, the textured tops must be something else as this thing SINGS!!!!!! The downside to this is that now I am hooked on Adamas  ![]()

I am actually changing my mind about selling it because you can play barre chords up and down the neck with no hand cramps or fatigue. I would like to get a textured top someday as well.

Like you say the actions is LOW and it's dead easy to play. One day I'll stumble across a textured top but never seen a ebony neck one.

If the lows is what you like about the 1597, when you get around to getting a textured top try to get your hands on a 1581; I'm now considering getting rid of my other Adamii and looking for more of these.

My W597 went to a new home a week ago, so I'm consoling myself with a 12 string Celebrity and an old Maton classical. It's rough going, but it'll make the 08C sound even better!

I bought my 1598 and I am blown away. Everyone who hears it is blown away by its' tone. Everyone complements the sound. "Angels singing" is how one person described it. And don't let it fool you - I suck, so it has to be the guitar! And the 47RI that I bought because I listened to the wise men? You know - "the best guitar Ovation ever made" and "You have to buy this!!" and all the hype that was tossed around by the shills and shrills? (Note: The shills shouted that the 47RI was the best thing since sliced bread - until the next item came along and then started pushing that one. So I don't trust 'em.) Back to the 47RI: It's loud. Big deal; I want loud I can plug in. And truth be told, it's ugly. Gaudy, bugly, fugly, ugly. It's going back into the case so I don't have to look at it... Nobody who has heard it has complemented the sound other than to comment on the volume. Not one person. Emperor = Naked. I like my Elite NEB's tone better. Dweez - I'll take your 1597 in trade towards my 47RI any day.

They are actually more symetrical with the overall shape of the guitar, and therefore should improve the sound also (; Most guitars are shaped more like that of a female figure. That's probably why people who give their guitars names usually use feminine names. That doesn't make them gay, just feminine-looking.
