A 2001C that has been upgraded with a variety of modern features, most obviously the inlaid epaulets. Not to mention what I think is the most beautiful figured redwood top you'll ever find on a guitar... many of you have salivated over this one through the years, here's your chance to own it! Here are the specs: upgrades in bold Collector's Series 2001-FR (Figured Redwood) Serial Number 264 6-String Acoustic/Electric Body Type: Mid-Depth Cutaway Top: Solid Figured Redwood Bracing: Scalloped LX-style X bracing Scale Length: 25 1/4" Fretboard: Ebony Fret Inlay: 12th Fret Decorative Inlay Bridge: Ebony Rosette: INLAID Multi Soundhole 5-Piece Epaulets Pickup: Ovation Original Patented Pickup with black saddle Nutwidth: 1 11/16" Machines: Gold Case: 9158-0 Pre-Amp: OP-PRO/Studio with 1/4" and XLR out Neck: 5-piece neck with great satin (non-glossy) finish .. the neck is fantasic! This guitar has a beautiful warm, woody tone. Suitable for fingerpicking and lighter strumming. Many OFC'ers have played it over the years at various west-coast gatherings, I'm sure they can chime in with their opinions on how it looks and sounds in person. There's not a scratch or ding on this guitar, but there are a couple of character items to be aware of. There are two lines in the finish that follow the redwood grain between the bridge towards the bass side. One is about 1/2" in length and the other is around 4" in length. These aren't finish cracks or wood cracks.. more like an irregularity in the grain. There's also similar lines on each side of the guitar between the bridge and the epaulets, both about 1/2" in length. These have always been present on this top and have not moved or changed. I mention them in the spirit of full disclosure, but you have to look carefully from up close to actually see them on the guitar. If anybody even noticed them at the PNW-OFC gathering, they didn't mention it. Redwood tops are very sensitive to humidity, it's important to keep them properly humidified. The mothership also recommends detuning 01C's when they are not in use. This is a keeper for me and to say I'm reluctant to part with it is an understatement. Please help me keep it in the family, at least! I'm asking $1300 plus shipping. There are additional pics in my ning profile . Thanks! And thanks to Damon for snapping some great pics for me... ![]()

The only way to get one like this is to custom order or have a major repair of an LX done, both would be cost prohibitive. If I wasn't so far extended already I'd be meeting David at the border to steal it from him MiB - You NEED this one...

I'm sad to see that dvd has to sell it and even sadder that I'm not in a position to buy it. SWMBO didn't believe me when I said our investment advisor said to buy guitars as a hedge against the stock market collapse.

You should have "forced" me to take this one home from Miles' place, David. The "can we keep it Mom?" approach works pretty well once the cute little thing is in the door.

The first time I ever saw/played one of these '01Redwoods was at a GuitarShow where I'd also met Al & Miles for the first time. Al had two of 'em there (a center-hole & multi-hole), and I was just STUNNED by that guitar . . .

And I don't mean just for a mid bowl. I'm a deep bowl fan, but his redwood sounds as good as any of my deep bowls. The inlaid epaulets brought it up to date and really makes the redwood look even better, if that's possible. I met Al for the first time this summer. I think we're related, but don't hold it against him.
