What you see in the photos are reflections. Two years ago I sent the guitar back to the factory and had the neck and headstock custom gloss finished. It was an expensive upgrade but well worth it. Below is a before and after photo. Guitar is in 100% mint condition with no visible signs of wear. This is an absolute museum piece and a real slice of Ovation history. Comes with original hardshell case which is also in excellent condition. $1350. incl. FREE FedEx shipping within the 48 US States Email or PM me if interested. Also let me know if you would like the matching MM68 LTD BOOK MANDOLIN and I can offer a package deal.

Actually the oldest continuously owned Ovation I've got.

There was a time in the 90's when Ovation didn't seem to do anything to the neck and headstock and I never cared for the way the guitars looked. To my eye, the difference between a glossed and unglossed neck and headstock is night and day. For a while, in the late 80's, Ovation went with a satin finish on the necks. My 87C has that. It's fine, but any less finish just isn't right to me. But I know people who can't stand a glossed neck. I love them.....

But I guess that could be subjective. As long as it's disclosed as such I don't think it's wrong to list it that way. Just my .02.
