1680 Adamas discontinued...

... tis truly a shame. This is my favorite Adamas. Plus if you're a walnut 'nut', this is the cat's azz!

Al, do you know how many were made?

Iffy, I'm glad you liked this model. You're the one who bought the one guitar they made. I, on the other hand, never understood why they built this one. Like the FD14, it took a while for the 50 or so Utes that were built, to find homes. I never figured they'd sell many of these things......

Granted the 1680's M$RP is/was a shocker! Fortunately I got a good deal.

I'm sure that Al will make it worthwhile for anyone that's interested. ;)

Paul, ever play one of these? Totally different animal from the UTE. I would love to get one, but It's outside of my means right now.

I think some guitars take a while to find their niche. The 1680 is a great little fingerpicker if you don't need access to the higher frets. Ovation don't sell many 1 3/4" neck guitars. Does anyone know the common favourite nut widths for other manufacturers? Is the 1 11/16 the defacto standard?

I hate to hear this...The price for a 1680 is a little heavy but mine has turned out to be my favorite. IFFY, did you finally get one?

Did you guys miss the fact that Al mentioned the price was now "nice" due to the closeout.

I would really love to be able to pony up the $$ for one of these. When I first saw Keith's I thought, "another UTE" (which isn't a cut at all), but when i got to play it and listen to him play it, WOW. These are a world apart from the usual Adamas/Ovation.

Dweez, they don't get any better than this one, believe me. I was blown away by Keith's at the jam, as was Iffy. The only difference is Iffy had the $ to get one.

If I recall correctly, at the time I purchased the 1680 Jim had three gits in transit to his abode! :D

dweez,

If you haven't yet, do a '1680' OFC search. Sweet, sweet guitar!
