I bought this new around 1992. It was my fist Ovation and i loved it. The sound was fair plugged/unplugged but it was the best playing guitar i had ever owned. I wrote tons of songs on it just because i had it in my hand all the time. Like Trader Jim after a few years i sold it and went right into a case of writers block. I tryed to buy it back but the guy loved it, and he made a living with it for the next 7-8 years. Fast foward to a few months ago i ran into him down in Mobile and he said he was mostly playing electric and would sell it. I got it and was very supprised a the shape its in. The case looks about new on the outside with some wear on the inside. The guitar has only a few dings and i think it had most of them when i sold it to him. The sound is better than i had remembered and it still plays great. I`ve had fun with it and was thinking of keeping it this time but i`m about to spend some real money and guess i need to let it go. For all you SSB lovers $400.00 shipped in the lower 48. pics to come thanks.

Ooooo - I likes SSBs!

Though my known "problem" with Ovations has mostly been addressed now thanks to a careful self administered withdrawal process, I have to say I really liked my 1868-4, great guitar. So for those not aquianted with this guitar it's well worth the money IMHO

I've had my 1868 Elite since about 1997 and it's still my primary guitar just to pick up and play - I hate to see anybody have to sell theirs - and that is an amazing price. Good luck with it.

These are supremely comfortable guitars to play. They make great experiments too. I had mine converted to a mandocello.

1868's are great guitars and i am fan of those SSB's !
I owned a Natural -4 for 18 years and switched for a nice Pearl White -6P last year with MusicMike's help for searching it. Great look, great sound and more of all, GREAT fingerboard !
400 USD is a real fair price !

I'd love to have a nice ssb, and that looks like a nice ssb.

Not putting anything in stone, but if I were to get serious, I might sell the Deacon and probably buy an ssb and a hollowbody electric as well. Whenever I think about selling it, I chicken out. But to be honest, I don't really desire to have any guitars that I don't play a lot, and I've only used the Deke once since Smokies Jam.

I think that for so long the Deacon was my only really special guitar. Now I have the 1581 as my "gotta keep it" axe.

So, I'm thinking.

Did this guitar ever sell? I think I'm gonna sell the Deacon soon and try to get something like it.
