Set of six (6) brand new Brazillian Rosewood tuner buttons...very handsome (Dress up your stock tuners), fit Schaller large size (NOT MINI). I bought two sets, only needed one. These sell for nearly $70 a set: $39.95 s/h included CONUS(except overseas)...

I'd like to know that too, because I'm assured by my sources that they can not under any circumstances supply me with Bz Rosewood buttons because of the various international treaties affecting the trade in certain wood species, of which Brazillian Rosewood is one.

Whatever they may have told you, they are not Brazillian. I do this for a living. I know.

Paul, what is the problem? I don't know any more about it than this: they are what they are as far as I know...I have two Brazilian guitars and a complete back and side set w/peghead and bridge...they match very well...I don't have the DNA...They are how they were sold to me...

No problem, just don't believe everything you are told without knowing the facts.

Exactly. Mike if you PM me I'll tell you exactly which country those buttons originated from, and it's not Brazil.

They are superb items, but whoever told you they are Brazillian Rosewood lied, and you should not perpetuate the myth.

I could sell a ton more of mine if I said they were Brazillian (many of them have the colour and grain structure to convince the inexperienced ) but I have ethics, unlike it would appear whoever sold you yours.

Possibly that is the case Paul...but, my point is that I have no way of knowing any more than what I was told and what I bought the item as...and yes, Jeff, I know all about C.I.T.E.S....if the rosewood is pre-ban, it can still be sold...as was the case with the BRW set I bought some months back...were these? ???
I have no plans to buy anything else from that buyer, and in fact Paul, I show and tell everyone about the quality of the buttons you sell...they're first rate!

Merry Christmas all!

Unless they've been holding that Bz rosewood lumber since 1992 to make those buttons, then they'd need a permit to trade across international borders. Maybe you need to advertise them as "pre-ban" But be sure it is actually "pre-ban" and not just that you "believe it to be pre-ban"

Merry Christmas!

WOW! A respected OFC member represents an item as represented to them and gets slammed...

Next thing ya know we'll need provenance for plectrums...

Education at any level is appreciated but requesting PMs after failing to use 'em in the first place is not very diplomatic.

BTW, I have four pre-ban AR-15 receivers that were grandfathered prior to the Clinton-era ban. Guess what? They are and have been legal!

I also have a neighbor that collects pre-ban ivory.

It's got nothing to do with who it is. This is not a personal spat between me and Mike, we are both above that. It's everything to do with fact and what's right. If somebody came here trying to sell a Celebrity as a USA Ovation, because that's what they'd been told it was and beleived it was, they'd be corrected, in no uncertain terms, It happens regularly. This is no different, the subject matter is just a little more esoteric.

That's a good point Paul...since I don't know the source of the wood I'll call it "Nicely Grained Rosewood Tuner Buttons that were originally sold to me as BRW that may in fact be Pre-ban BRZ but since it has no COA and I can not prove it is BRZ then it may be generic Rosewood... :D ;) the buyer has been notified...

I ran a retail music store for nearly 7 years...I did well but I don't miss it...thanks for reminding me Paul...lol

It's all good. Paul, after the holidays I need to get in touch with you about maybe bringing several sets of tuner buttons for me in March.

Interesting discussion. They claim that the Josh White and Balladeer reissue models have BRW bridges. So if these parts are not made of pre-ban lumber (are they?) would I have needed a permit to import my JW and DB rebuilds with their new BRW brigdes?

Short answer is that; if it was NOT pre-ban it would be illegal to trade.

Wow! Quite a discussion on rosewood tuner buttons. I like the look of rosewood and have been contemplating a set from paul also. I personally don't care what country the wood came from though. (although I do appreciate the concern over the depleting rain forests) I'm sure niether I nor most other people couldn't tell the difference on a set of buttons. I DO however know a couple of luthiers that have LOTS of old wood stock in their possession that has been laying on their supply shelves for over 20-30 years.

Oh .. and on the pre-ban AR-15 receivers Iffy ... I'd hang on to them if I were you, because they'll probably be banned again soon.
