Location: GATLINBURG TENNESSEE :) | I believe it would be a 1587. I love the one I have. There's no doubt in my mind that this is a great guitar. It will be interesting to see if the price spikes. You never really know nowadays on ebay. If I were buying, I would put out my highest offer in the last 20 seconds and throw the dice. |

| Thanks Vince, I'll remember that model number. I was thinking it was 1687. I have a friend over in North Carolina who has an early Adamas I like that except in the brown/beige finish. The action is incredibly easy. Almost too easy, if there is such a thing... |

Location: Newington, CT | I bought that one. Yes, it was my first purchase on eBay...looked very nice, and I have two Adamas 2080's. Love them so much, I figured I'd try this one. After some research, the price looked very reasonable. Looking forward to playing it. |

Seriously, there are some incredibly knowledgeable people on this board, and most of the time they'll help you without being smartasses about it.
How'd you wind up with 2 2080s? Those are damn fine guitars. Beal has a custom 2080 longneck/extra manly (wide) neck that I'm gonna steal when he's not looking :p |

Here's the story on the 2080's. I bought the original after looking and looking and looking for an Adamas to test play somewhere...None to be found anywhere. I had consistently read EVERYWHERE that the Adamases were just about all simply fine guitars.
Finally, I decided to take a flyer...I bought the 2080 - without ever having played one -- on line. I HAD played Ovations and really enjoyed them, so I figured I wasn't taking TOO much of a risk. I was right. Just gorgeous, and playable? Yikes! Wonderful.
However, trying to be somewhat shrewd, I kept an eye on the prices to see whether I had paid (around $2,200 for a 2080 and a Genz-Benz 30 watt Shenandoah package) roughy what I ought to have paid. All indications were that this beauty was holding its value quite well.
Except one instance. There, to my surprise, was an entry for an Adamas 2080 -- new in the box -- for $1,200, with an additional 10% off over at wwbw.com! I watched it for a day or two, then bought it figuring, Heck! It's an Adamas 2080 -- how bad could it be? Well, of course, it wasn't bad at all. I guess they were just trying to get rid of the last one or something.
After I bought it, the listing disappeared, so I guess it WAS the last one. Interestingly, it IS a tad different in workmanship from my first one...to be expected, I figure, for anything that is individually hand-made. Frets are a tiny bit "sharper", for lack of a better term, at the edges. There is a tiny bit of fret buzz at the octave on the E-string. I'm guessing that this one came without benefit of setup. |
