Folklore Deluxe One small mark by the 6th string tuner and a ding near the binding on the lower bout. At first receiving this from an OFC'er I had failed to bond with it. I had a set of medium PB's on it and set the action fairly low. No magic, but then... I made an angle shim, raised the saddle a skosh and put on some EXP 12 Mediums (.013") and this baby rocks! I got that awesome Bowl-to-Belly vibration thing going... Album for the FD-14 Ebay Buy it Now is $1500.00 but cantact with an offer and I'll definately deal and throw in some extras.

My ebay BIN price wasn't meant to scare anyone HERE away, it was just a way to start a conversation and protect myself on Ebay. This is a fine guitar... and we are a bunch of broke *&$%@!*$ aren't we? Anyone interested in a slightly used Picasso?

The ovation belonging in the same tone league as Martin or other higher end guitars, according to my ears. No disrespect to Ovation, their market is obviously fancy colors and fancy electronics. Nothing wrong with that. They made one run of plain jane guitars with acoustic sound as the top prioroity and the FD14 is it. Very well done.

There is a noticeable difference that I presume is caused by the cedar top. Much more mellow and less boomy or bright than a Folklore with a spruce top. If you want an Ovation that doesn't sound like all the other Ovations, this is one to buy. If SWMBO says you have too many guitars and you can get rid of a couple of your spruce tops to get this, it would be a nice guitar to have. I can't part with the right ones yet.

But with the uncertainty in this economy we are hunkering down and building the rainy day fund as fast as we can. Want to put them on hold for me for, oh say, three years? :) I can't believe these guitars are still on the block actually. Speaks volumes of the times. _____ gh1
