A hand-selected figured Koa top produces warm, full-bodied tones while its lightweight Contour body pumps out plenty of volume. Abalone appointments give the guitar a distinctive look, adorning its delicate Celtic knot rosette and fingerboard. An additional 200 pieces of abalone frame the top. Ovation’s OP Pro Studio preamp powers the electric side and features exclusive “expressorâ€/drive controls that accentuate each individual note when playing finger style or single note passages. Additional features include a deep contour GS body, Scalloped LX bracing, 5-piece mahogany/maple neck and ebony fingerboard. Production will be limited to 150 sequentially numbered pieces worldwide. Retail: $3599 including deluxe molded case. IN STOCK NOW this guitar has one of the nicest tops I have ever seen! if interested call e me alpep@lostartvintageDOTcom ![]()

The factory would have paid only some "cents" more in using them in the first place. You could always change to them. I'd rather have Waverlys. (For those wondering: We heard at the Schaller factory tour what KMC pays for a set of M6's. It would have been only some cents more) In a Collector's guitar positioned to be in the higher level - soundwise and according to the price - it's a shame to put those "aftermarket" tuners on. No matter, if they do the job. Best regards, Kurt

The abalone/tortoise shell combo is SO GORGEOUS. As soon as I saw it, I had to have one. Here's a closer view of the combo on my '09C. I wanted to embed the photo but at this writing my brain's too distracted to remember how to shrink the pic, and it's huge, so here's the link: http://www.pbase.com/willa/image/114329465 Good luck with your sale on those beauties, Al. ;) Willa

Al's willing to dicker, and I would love to call him with an offer, but my budget lives WAAYYYY closer to the bottom than what these are going for. I'll have to wait. 'Course, it ain't the first time patience has paid off. ;)

I have no real idea what it sounds like, acoustically. The only time I've ever seen one was at the NAMM show in January and you never know what anything sounds like there. I'm guessing that if you've got the extra bucks, these would be good ones to pick up....
