OK. I've had the trade feeler out for awhile, but now it's officially up for sale. I'd still like to trade (trade value $950) for an acoustic six string that plays as well and sounds as good as this one, but since that doesn't seem to be happening, I will sell for $750 shipped (conUS) and PayPal'd to an OFC member. For trades, I prefer center hole guitars.

This is essentially a new guitar, with a great 20yr old neck and tuners. I originally purchased it new in 1990 (it's a 1989 model). A few years ago it developed a couple finish cracks, but still played beautifully. I sent it to Ovation and, because of the lifetime warranty, they replaced the entire top and bowl, bridge included, releveled the frets, and set the guitar up beautifully. It has the newer style scalloped X bracing, a thinner, more resonant top, and a thin finish instead of the original thick one. This plays like a dream and sounds fantastic. The action is very low and barre chords are strain-free right up to the body. It comes with a non-original hardshell case.

Thanks,
Andy

Thanks. Money seems to be the problem these days...that's why I've been taking the for trade route up to this point.
BTW, if anybody wants to see the "before" pics they are here .

Sorry for this bump, but I want to get this listing up above the out-of date FT feeler thread.

There are more pics of this guitar at my HC listing
Thanks!

I'm surprised it hasn't sold yet as well. These are great guitars. And it's essentially brand new, which means that it shouldn't have any structurally problems that could crop up with an older used guitar....

I have been tempted several times. But I only have an Elite 6778LX for trade, and Andy says he wants round hole guitars. The outright price of $750 is a wee bit high in my humble opinion (no flames please), seeing as I just bought a fabled 1537 for exactly that price, inclusive of shipping. And also a 1719 Custom Legend (bling!) for $500.

Honest reply from one potential buyer!

I think the reason it is higher than you would expect is because of all the rework performed on it. Like he mentioned originally ... It is almost like getting a new guitar. This is apparently not an average Ebay used guitar.

Yes, it is priced to reflect an as new guitar. You also can't find a new Ovation 12 like this one (deep bowl, non-cutaway). My trade value of $950 is, I think, very reasonable. If my sale price were any less , it would be less than the trade-in offer I already have at a guitar store locally. The $750 includes shipping (conUS) for OFC members--anywhere else it is listed, shipping is not included.
None of that changes the fact that right now some very nice guitars are selling cheap, which is why I originally was looking only at trades.

I think your price is right in line if not low for this model in it's condition. I know a remake would take between 500 and 600.00, so this should be a steal for anyone who wanted that model in pristine shape.

Ok, this is my last post on this.

This guitar is an X braced deep bowl? With the new scalloped X bracing?

Somebody here should buy this puppy. Essentially, it's $700 plus shipping ($750 total).

Here's what I'm thinking. If it were A braced, it would still be fantastic. Everybody here knows that I'm a huge fan of A braced Ovations.

But the first time I picked up an LX 12 string, and it was the butt ugly orangeburst, I thought that if I didn't own an Adamas I 12, I'd buy that very guitar (ok, I'd look for a better looking one). But they are that good.

A deep bowl with a scalloped X braced top? I can only imagine how good it is. My only question is, why is the seller selling it? Classic Ovation look and great sound. It should be his only 12 string.... the only one anybody would ever need.........

I just had a local buyer back out on this one because his wife needs Pilates equipment...that's how it goes...so it's still available. After getting shipping estimates for another potential buyer, I realize I cannot absorb PayPal fees, too if I have to ship it (I didn't realize how much rates had gone up). So, for OFC-ers, it's still $750 shipped, but PayPal is extra.
Thanks, Andy

Yepper, I got surprised recently with the last two I sold and shipped.

I have determined that FedEx (Thanx to TJ) is currently the least expensive method for larger boxes.

Good luck with your sale!

I guess I'll leave this up a few more days. I have a couple trade offers, but nothing incredibly tempting yet, and no Os at all.
Too bad I failed to talk Herb out of selling his 2077LX...
Somebody is a happy buyer.

Thanks. I'm not going down on the price, in case anyone is waiting for that. OFC'ers are basically getting free shipping already, since I'd love this to stay "in the family."

MWoody, I guess "Talk like a Pilate day" would be talking like a pirate with too many tongue piercings...

OK. I have a couple trade offers on the table, but this is still available for now. First of all, I've had four trades and two purchase offers disappear into the ether so nothing counts until it's done. Second, neither of the current offers are from OFCers or involve Ovations in trade, so I'm giving y'all another chance in case anybody is considering this. I hope everybody had a great Fourth!

Yup...both trade offers just disappeared. It seems that anytime someone needs to add cash to the deal, the cash disappears... .
