Here's a link since the listing is too new to show in a search yet. Considering how widely prices have ranged recently for CL's, I figured I would let the market dictate the price for this one instead of guessing what it might sell for here. But I'm willing to cancel the auction of an OFC'er wants it. I'm open to reasonable offers. Otherwise, feel free to bid it up! :D  Custom Legend 1119

Another OFC'er (who was the very first to express interest) made an offer within the range of those responses (and was the first to do so). Hence, I accepted the first reasonable offer from the person who was the first to show interest. I don't think anyone here would do any differently. There were NO requests to hold this guitar, so I didn't. When it comes to open sales, and you really want the item, hit me (or any seller) with your best shot first. Otherwise YOU take the chance of missing out. I don't think anyone on this board would have made this "call" any differently. I'm sorry if anyone feels slighted, and harbor no grudges. But I've worked hard to build a trustful or at least respectable reputation here and elsewhere. If criticism is warranted, I accept it. But it is not warranted in this case. Congrats to the new owner, you're gonna love it!

I wish you would have mentioned that previous offer in your long PM in which you asked questions of me. I presumed you would have at least waited a reasonable time for a response, which I provided as soon as I was able (about 12 hours, from late last night to this morning). Or, if you wanted to accept the first offer, you could have done so without leading me on and then replied to my interest by simply stating "it's already sold on a previous offer". To start an auction, allow bids to be placed, engage a disclosed bidder in a conversation about the item, and then cancel bids to sell it to a back channel offer received *before* you engaged in the conversation with me is not cool and is, in the general sense, a practice disrespectful to buyers/bidders which is a small part of what degrades ebay. If a seller wants to take private offers back channel, then he should certainly do so. "Best offer" is really just a private auction run out of sight of the public. If a seller really wants to discover the current market price from a broad base of bidders, he should do that instead and list it on ebay. He can even run an auction which gives bidders the opportunity to grab it quickly at a price he likes while still allowing it to be evaluated by the marketplace (reserve auction with BIN). But to do both at the same time communicates to people that ebay is just a place for sellers to expose themselves and that they have no obligation to treat bidders with the same respect they expect from buyers. Not paying is an ebay crime, but pulling an item which has legitimate bids to sell privately at a better price is considered "fair play". A buyer can't withdraw his bids because he found a better item to buy instead. It's not about the guitar - there are plenty more. It's about how sellers conduct themselves, and I respectfully disagree that this was handled properly. IMO, you should not have started an auction if you were serious and active about selling it back channel at the same time, and you should have either accepted your first offer, told me you had a previous offer and would get back to me after that was resolved, or completed our conversation before deciding which way to go. It is your guitar and it is (was) your choice, but sellers need to remember that buyers have choices too and deserve reasonably respectful treatment.

Joined: May 2006 Posts: 4232 Location: Steeler Nation, Hudson Valley Contingent | SIGH.... I answered three sets of questions yesterday and this morning. The first offer (second set of questions) was a little too low to accept. The first set of questions was answered yesterday without further reply until AFTER I responded to the third set of questions (YOURS) this morning. After answering your questions (in which I mentioned what I was willing to end the auction for just as I had to the other two), I received the offer from the first person. I had no way of knowing if any of the three interested parties would follow through. The eBay ad CLEARLY stated that the guitar was for sale elsewhere, and I reserved the right to end the auction early. If an OFC'er wants me to hold a guitar in good faith, I will consider it and have done it before. But NOT ONE PERSON requested this. As an OFC member you had the same opportunities to make an offer. I treat everyone on this forum with equal and sincere respect. Someone moved faster than you. It happens. Don't take it out on me. And don't impugn my motives, sincerity, or reputation.

I am VERY happy with this beautiful guitar, and I could not have had my questions/concerns answered better than you did! While I probably didn't ask all the right questions, and had LOTS of dumb, neurotic questions, you answered ALL of them! Thanks also for the fast shipment. Isn't it TORTURE when that bix box comes, and it takes you twenty minutes to get it OUT?! The tension builds and then ... AAAAAHHHHHH!!! THANK YOU!! Here she is in her new home: http://ovationfanclub.ning.com/photo/photo/show?id=2194223%3APhoto%... I am so grateful that this guitar was honestly represented and exceeds my expectations! I've wanted one like this for some time, and now I've got 'er! Patch, thank you for a very fair, considerate and conscientious 'deal'. I am thrilled! I hope I'll be on your announcement list when you sell other things to feed your habit, haha! I got the CL on the same day that I took delivery on the '09C. Thanks to WillS for THAT beauty! The photos don't do HER justice either. The guitar is absolutely gorgeous! Here is a photo of her: http://ovationfanclub.ning.com/photo/this-sounds-so-pretty/prev?con... I was/am overwhelmed! I really had a self-indulgent last few weeks, but I have no regrets! Happy, happy, happy! If I could see ya, I'd give ya a great big HUG, probably not something the 'boys' on this forum would do, haha! ... oh, and did I mention that I am VERY HAPPY? ;) Willa

They really drive the top for maximum tone (lights are for sissys and extra lights are for hispanic players in San Antonio).....
