I know I'll kick myself if this one leaves, but I am once again running out of room in the closet, so one of the older ones has to go. This is about as pristine of an example of the rare discontinued 000-17S Martin as you will find. All solid Mahogany top, sides, and back, slot head 12 fret slope body design. I would conservatively rate it at a 9.8 condition. Comes with upgraded Geib style case (5 series Martin case) in new condition also. 1550.00 shipped conn US.

Jim, I can't believe you're selling THAT one!!!!

BTW ya'll, that's one drop dead pretty guitar with a surprising lovely sound. I say surprising because I had never played one before Jim's and the sound caught me off guard.

A fantastic guitar! I have a 000-15S, which is the same except for satin finish and no binding. Anyone wanting to hear a 12 fret all-mahogany slothead sound can listen here (right channel, opposite the vocals, which are not me):

Good luck with this sale. These are fabulous guitars. They ring and ring, and are very delicately responsive.

No pickup, standard as it came from the factory, except for the better case.

Truck funds are about gone so it's going to be a while. I appreciate the offer.

Best part is, no shipping. Brad's coming down to pick it up first of the month. Maybe I'll get to do another cookout!

Congrats Blues Sailor! You should really thank my wife for getting this guitar. Had she not bought me a D-18 just a few weeks ago, I would have been the first one to bid on this magnificent guitar. Instead I will join Gulfcoast and Trader Jim on the crying list. Enjoy!

Congratulations, Brad.

Jim, I think you sold it now because you knew I didn't have the money to buy it. :p

Simon, how do you like the D-18?

Well, the timing is really bad with respect to the financial end due to a new job and a move and all the expenses involved, but this kind of opportunity doesn't come along everyday. I've had major GAS for this critter ever since I first laid eyes on it, but had given up hope that TJ would ever let it go. Not even a month ago he told me that it would be the last one to leave. (or was it the CEO, I think it changed as the evening went on). I'd never buy a Martin without playing it first because they vary so much within a model, so there was another incentive to take the plunge.

Weaser, I know I gave you the hard luck story when we traded on the UTE. All I can say is that I am weak. Also, if things get real tight, I know there is a market for the Martin. Jim, you would of course have first dibs, but I don't see this one going anywhere anytime soon.

I'm looking forward to bringing this one home.

Blues - No explanation necessary. Enjoy your new acquisition. I'm enjoying mine more and more every day so I've no issues.

I have not played a 17 but i have a 15. About the same guitar less binding and gloss. All i can say is i would love to have one but i`m bonding with my Taylor right now.

Actually, the 17 has a different bracing than the 15 besides the gloss finish and binding. I always thought they were the same till I read a post at the UMGF about them.
